An alert when a new galactic resource is discovered/created in known space?

On a small map it isn't much of a problem to find them. But on a large map it gets very hard to keep track of the ones you have found, and when new ones appear.

Three suggestions: When one is found, have that appear as a message.

When one forms in known space, have a message for that.

A map filter that shows them. I don't think they show up currently.

Unless something has changed, they show up on the mini-map as plus signs. However, unless you're playing on a pretty small map, the plus signs are so small as to be almost invisible. I too would like to see a button under the mini-map which would cause them to be displayed in a more visible fashion.

I will look for them, I don't think I have ever seen them show up (gigantic maps mostly).

Do they show up on the mini map as plus signs? I know your starbases do, but the resources themselves? It would be nice if they could.

You know what? They don't! I'd swear that, in an earlier build they did, but they don't anymore.

However, even if they did, I still think the plus signs are too small to be of much use in locating them, except in the smaller galaxies.

AFAIK, they haven't shown up since the beginning of Beta 3. Maybe before that? That was one of my big complaints. They should definitely show up on the minimap. And, as long as you zoom in at least one click, you could probably see them all right, and in a Gigantic map, knowing the location of Galactic resources in every sector at the same time is probably not really necessary until the very late game.

2 Suggestions:
1) For Starbases and Resources, use the ship button on the map as a toggle: off/ships only/Starbases& Resources only/show all. This way, if you turn off planets and ships, the only thing left would be your starbases & resources. This would be very useful on the gigantic map, when Brad adds the max window option to the map.

2)the ability to toggle the intensity of the sector lines on the map: on, low and off. This is useful for the Gigantic map as those line obscure the planets and ships.

I've increased the size of the starbase symbol on the minimap, and anomalies will now show up as Xs.

Also, all resources are created at the beginning of the game, and at no other time.

Occasionally, a new anomaly will appear.

Thanks Cari.

is that anomalies shown as an X or resources??? Showing resources would be extremely useful. Anomalies don't really matter (helpful but not critical).

I think we really need something showing resources on the map and an alert when new ones form. On larger maps, you really don't want to go look at each and every sector every turn. And if you don't see one when it forms, the computer is all over it (so they obviously are being informed when one forms, they don't have to send out scouts all over the place to find them.)

Didn't you read the obove post by Cari? They don't "form".. there are a set number in the galaxy and they are all placed at the beginning of the game...

just to clarify,

resources are the nice 3D shapes which you build starbases on. These are preset and do not form new ones

anomalies are the various space debris / plasmas / asteroids which your flag ship explores. These are also preset at the start but new ones can occasionally form.

Marking resources on the minimap would be very useful. Marking anomolies would be cluttered, but possibly of some use.

Until one had cleared all of the anomalies from the galaxy I don't see any need for marking them on the minimap. There are just too many of them for that kind of display. But once they are gone marking the newly formed ones would be very helpful. It often requires scanning the entire galaxy map to finid them and that is a real pain.

So, how about this. When the galaxy is created do not mark any anomalies on the minimap. After the game starts mark any NEW anomaly that is formed on the minimap. Will this work? Can it be done? Does it overcomplicate the game save/restore logic?
