Woohoo! Great new features while the game isn't even out yet! :)

I'll be buying and downloading the game right away on the 26th of March. Great way of getting the game, since I live in The Netherlands. Can't wait to play!

This is a good question.

Here's the shortest possible answer:

When you create a galaxy, the AI rolls some random virtual dice and picks a set of basic strategies it's going to use in the game. These strategies are modeled after beta tester strategies posted here over the months.

The AI then, based on the strategies it prefers will then use its points to choose different abilities.
