New review on GamesDomain.com!

Hi everybody!

Hey, one of the few review sites I half-way trust has brought out a review for Galactic Civilizations! It's actually the second one, as they reviewed the OS/2 version way back when.

Got a 'Top Game' rating: "What makes Wardell's game stand out from other recent 4X space empire games is a blend of simplicity and depth."

Joy :) The game truly deserves this!

Damn, that Epic Generator sounds like a wonderful idea! Could show up as an html file presented similar to the ending summary and viewable in IE or other browsers. Brad, this is the first I have heard of it, but that Epic Generator idea is a gem! If you ever rest up and find yourself bored enough to need to code a spurious update, I would love to see this! If too hard to hook into the file system, please remember it for GalCiv 2, the non gag version!

Kimberly, off to train her space squid to eat sharks.

I trust Games Domains integrity. I think every point made + & - is right on target. They loved it. And if they didn't they would of said so without a doubt. I expect most of the hopeful features will seep into the game over the next year. Multiplayer I would not expect until GalCiv 2, but I am now expecting there will be a GalCiv 2 in a year or two. Brad and crew have really made something most anyone can appreciate. (Not counting OS2).
Replacing MP3s like the lame KABOOM.mp3 and the nerve grinding Drengin event MP3 and more will be easy for Stardock to do. It was for me. It took me about 5 minutes to find and swap in better alternatives.

RustyBlade,

What did you wind up swapping for the Drengin event MP3?

I agree with RustyBlade--Games Domain is a super-reliable site, and that's one of the best reviews of GalCiv I've read.

Too bad the "epic generator" didn't make it in! Well, gotta leave something for a future release, eh? :D I totally agree with the reviewer--I can envision people reading one of those and saying, "You did all this in a PC game?!??"

I posted this in another thread on this topic, but since this seems to be the popular "gamesdomain.com review!" thread:

Is it just me or did they review the beta version? (The first screen shot in the review is a shot of the set up screen for the beta; one of their big negatives is "no tutorial mode" when the final version has just such a mode right on the start up screen, etc)

Yeah but:

Also, presentation values are at least three or four years past their expiry date, with basic 2D sprites

Is a cheap shot and jsut not true- the graphics seem slick to me- something about their overall cohesiveness gets past thembeing just "basic sprites"

huh! >:(
