I loved every single thing about this game when I read about it coming out and i had faith in Stardock that they would do quality work but I was hesitant to purchase it because of the shear magnitude of how awesome it could be. An infinitely replayable Total War type game with magic and the depth of Sins of a Solar Empire. I give Stardock points for trying and there is obviously alot of content and intelligence that has been put in this game. But its totally imbalanced in every way and lets face it the Campaign was a horribly pathetic side quest that didn't even use 1% of what the game had to offer. I understand that the game itself is a massive amount of coding and when you have 3000 AI units on a map all thinking of doing something that it can be almost impossible to make it work. But my computer is one year old and I have all the settings on low and I can't play the game because it keeps crashing to windows. It first started crashing when I started to venture out and conquer other cities. When I just researched and killed MOBS with my main party I was fine. But now the game keeps crashing and I know why. There is simply too much going on. I have 4 gigs of RAM a top of the line Core 2 Duo and Vid card and if I can play crysis and far cry with ease why are 2d sprites crashing my pc? Stardock.....WTF. Unacceptable. You took what could have arguably been the best idea ever for a game and put out something that is obviously rushed, untested, unballanced, and unplayable game. I mean, all i have to do is research diplomacy and I can hire units like shrills that will decimate any army making warfare a non issue. Adventuring is broken. I have been researching it for cycles or 60 turns trying to get my notable level to 5 but I cant. I realize that there are 20 times the research choices of Sins of a Solar Empire but if you are going to make them they have to work. Also, the random messages that some idiot released more monsters in the wild...WTF is that? Its stupid stop that. I've killed a mob and it respawned the next round twice as strong WTF. Why are level 10 monsters 96 attack and 15 defense and level 11 is 220 attack and 196 defense. Nothing can hit anything with 196 defense. I'm playing on normal and their are units that are invincible. But somehow I autobattle and I win but only some of my guys die. My leader never dies....gay, no risk. I've never had any children because I don't know how there are no wives. I mean come on! How can you make a game with all this cool stuff in it and fail so miserably around mid to end game. I mean I'm screwed now. The monsters are invincible. I cant quest anymore. I have no kids. Every other turn the game crashes and I have to reload. I'm going to end it with this.
I will only download Stardock Torrents from now on you are not getting any of my money ever again! You took a great idea for a game and you totally blew it. I mean there are so many issues with this game I'm sure that it will still suck a year from now. Maybe if you keep patching it I'll try it again in a year but I mean here are all the issues I found:
Horrible single player campaign (uses less than 1% of the games resources)
Imbalanced Research Tree
Diplomacy is all it takes to win the game (Monster Units are super powered)
Heroes suck and I never wanted to recruit one
Never could train mage units or cleric units
Buildings don't make sense and they look almost identical
Factions Dont really look different I couldn't tell who is who. Capitar and Pariden and Gilden were all the same to me other than the sovereigns.
Quests are 1-Dimensional
Quest rewards are completely unbalanced.
I got a worthless potion from a level 4 location and a dragon from a level 3 one.
Imbalanced and stupidly named monsters. Fighter named Bruce who was invincible with 20 hp and a mob with 75 hp with 0 defense, and lets not forget Greg the Spider and stupid spider.
I could go on and on.
STARDOCK! You think that making games is a business and you have to release games or people won't buy them but guess what. If you release crap like this people won't buy your next game. Take it from Blizzard, who I hate BTW, Starcraft II unbelievably great gaming experience. Why? Cause they kept tweaking it until it was a masterpiece. I don't understand how Stardock could release a game that doesn't even work and keeps crashing in the middle of the game. Unbelievably epic failure guys. I'm going to play Sins now so I can see what a great game is all about.
