Deleting fences and contents

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can clarify whether this feature still exists.

I've recently upgraded to Fences 6 on Windows 11, and I can no longer find the option to "Remove Fence and Files" when deleting a fence.

I use Fences to organize construction projects on my desktop. Once a project is complete, the master files are safely stored in Egnyte, so I simply want to remove the fence and delete the desktop copies at the same time.

In previous versions, I remember being able to do this, but in Fences 6 I now appear to have to delete every file individually before removing the fence.

My questions are:

  1. Has the "Remove Fence and Files" option been removed from Fences 6?
  2. If not, where can I find it?
  3. Is there a way to delete all files contained within a fence in one operation?
  4. Is there a faster way to remove multiple completed project fences?

I've already searched the Help Centre and the forums, and I contacted Stardock Support. Support has confirmed that the "Remove Fence and Files" option no longer exists, but suggested I ask here in case there is another method or for the developers to consider the feature.

If there isn't currently a way to do this, I'd like to request that the feature be brought back. It was an excellent productivity feature for users who manage lots of project files.

Hi dod, thanks for bringing this up.

Indeed- it was a scant used feature (and a destructive one at that), and so it was removed some years ago. The team is always open to hearing about new use cases however. At minimum, an idea that comes to mind might be "shift + click" reveals this option, might be a possibility to bring this back. (Unintuitive, but, perhaps you might have found it?)

In particular – we'd love to hear more about you usage, if you'd have the patience to do so, so that we can consider building around it?

 

Curious about the Egnyte integration here. Are the files replicated to your system in a synced way, where it replicates files to desktop and they stay there even when deleted? Likewise re the feature itself, is part of the issue that you have many icons in the Fence, so it's difficult to select them all and delete before deleting the Fence? Particularly, would love to learn more about how you bring these projects on to your desktop, and how you set up your Fence groups. I'm wondering if this could be better integrated too.

If you have more ideas about building your workflow you'd want to share, we'd be happy to extend an extra 5 pack of licenses if you'd have time to hop on a brief 10-20min call, just to hear you share/explain your setup. But in either event, questions above to help the team better understand!
