My daughter Holly has been in the hospital since Monday, with pneumonia. Early this morning Mike, her husband called and said she took a turn for the worse, she now has adult resp. distress syndrome. She is on a ventilator, sedated and paralyzed. She is young, only 33, so she has that going for her, and she is healthy otherwise, except for her asthma. Her brother is picking me up and we are going up to Marshfield, where she is...usually takes about 4 hrs. but we had a heavy snowstorm...so it will take longer...

HOlly is still holding her own, the nebulizer technician (not sure what that is) said that he could hear some real breathing sounds, not just gurgling. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers, they are a comfort. And thank you Firedogs Ron & Son Jose for the link, it is a beautiful site.

I just saw this forum today and will be sure to pray for your daughter. It was so encouraging to scroll through this post and read how many were willing to pray. Prayer works! And prayer time is never wasted time. If it didn't work, there'd be no point doing it. Be I, and obviously so many others here, believe that God will reach down and do something in the life of Holly that even the doctors can't do. My faith is set on total healing and recover! Matthew 8.5-10

Hello everyone! I am very happy to report that Holly is now off life support! She is awake, eating (liquid diet), and talking!! She was moved out of CCU to a regular room yesterday! Her doctors are very surprised at her progress, as they were expecting her to be on life support anywhere from 3 weeks to over a month. The power of prayer! I thank all of you very much for your thoughts and prayers, which I believe played an important part in my daughters recovery! We are so happy to "have her with us again"!

You are extremely lucky. I lost my mom to ARDS one and a half year ago. She had severe rheumatoid arthritis and the ARDS was a complication arising out of that. She was on ventilator for about 15 days but didn't recover. So you can see how fortunate your family is. Best wishes to your family for the future.

Thank you all again for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! Holly will be going home either today or tomorrow. Yesterday her husband was allowed to bring their dog in to see her, hospital rules certainly have changed! Thank you all so much!
