I've always preferred not to hide myself away, so my email is for anyone who wishes to contact me. I hate making certain people exclusively unattainable. Well MP, I'm gonna have to agree with you, but I still just recently renewed my Object Desktop again, as I will next year (again). The WB4 improvements allow for skinning other 'areas' of the os but not the actual windows interface. I do see the WB effort moving along in nicely taken steps, not ungainly leaps. Paitience is, afterall, a virtue. Let me also say you're skins are innovative and exceptionally artistic, so it seems you're doing pretty good at playing the hand you're delt...

When it comes to any governmental structure, I view it with a skeptical and mistrustful eye, especially my own in the USA, and I try not to understand these times with an ethnocentric skew. I was a Vietnam vet caught up in the leftist revolution of the peace movement back in the 60s and early 70s. So yes, I cry for peace. But I also understand the need for war, this war, and need is past due. I was wondering paxx, which niche would you place me in?

Perhaps my history flavors my opinions - as a previous Airborne Ranger and a Vietnam combat vet, the ensuing war is a step in the right direction. As Bush said, the great waters no longer seperate us as they once did; Iraq poses a genuine threat to all free countries and no one has the luxury of pretending such a threat will never rear its ugly face. Vietnam was an unjust war designed to fill politician's pockets, so I indeed don't lust for war. Any war or conflict is a sad and unwelcome event.

Wherever one goes in this world, physically or bytewise or (otherwise, for all you out-of-body people), you will consistantly meet those of low moral character and selfworth and those who belong at the bottom of the food chain. Giving such people a stern talking to will only placate those who have been ripped; no one's going to feel bad about the rip because you shook your finger at them. Like your grid, paxx, except for one critique: Personally, I'm willing to sacrifice a small degree of resources for, let's say, animation; the only place this can fit under is your originality section, which encompasses even a low resources skin, which means a low resources skin can get two marks whereas an animated moderate resourses skin can only get one mark. Do you see what I'm trying to say?

I've seen alot of good and viable comments here as well as in previous threads on this topic. I feel (I hate to commit myself), that the rating system is poor at best and is in sore need of revamping. I disagree with your last sentence, paxx: I love your Stronghold but I don't use it, yet it's in my appearances list and I would no sooner consider deleting it than I would my other favorites. I periodically go through this list and wean out the ones I can live without, Stronghold is still there (a good skin stands the test of time...). I don't use my own Amberbug, but delete it? Don't like it? I don't think so.

I believe you have the crux of it, paxx - if I understand you right - by 'nothing daring', I'm guessing that some categories carry more weight than others and you will give a higher rating for, let's say, animation vs speed... which leads me back to my first comment in this thread.

I don't even look at ratings as, in my opinion, I haven't seen a formula that's accurate enough to depict true consensus. It only reflects opinions of those who take the time (guilty!), to give a rating, and taste enters into the picture. Aside from puns, I like the idea of dropping the high and low.
