my game experience doesn't get passed the intro video. The old SR2 worked fine but this one wont load for me. What do i do?
You should post, or read, the log file: "########.log". That might give you/us a clue what is wrong.

Answers: 1. I believe some people got it working, yes. 2. No. Impulse installs a starforce free standalone version. After installation, there is not copyright protection whatsoever anymore. 3. No. In fact, many changes are completely unclear, and you may not know how to use several new features unless you read through a babelfish translation of the Russian Change log like I did. How to use the new disguise yourself as a dominator system is one odd example, (You had to right-click the
Yeah, I thought that if there were bugs, I'd better fix them myself, since it seems unlikely there will ever be an official patch for bugs like these. By the way, I have managed to fix the goods searching in a different, but far better way. The first fix was a very ugly workaround, and it is possible it could cause some problems, although I have not found any during testing. The new file I uploaded is a better fix.
Nah, the 800.000 credits are easy compared to the kills, since government missions will give about 120.000 credits in the endgame. Also, I have managed to make an improved fix for the search bug. The numbers in the results window are now going from 1 to 8 as they should. It is, all in all, a better fix. Make sure you install it in the directory you had previously installed the original Space Rangers 2, or copy all files in that directory after installation.
Remember that there are three types of unique ships, each with their own requirement. The military one requires you to kill 50 pirates instead of 500 dominators, and the pirate one requires you to kill 100 civilian ships.
There was a crashing build up for some time, before I managed to fix the crash. Can you try redownloading it [link="http://www.mediafire.com/?bskl1l2d12x"]this link[/link]? That way I can be sure that it is not the broken exe.
The filters for Selling Price, Purchase Price and Minimum Amount, were broken for Alcohol, minerals, Luxury goods, and Equipment. If you never used the filters for those goods, you would never notice.
Anyhow, this exe certainly fixed that error, as I can click on it without crashing. However, considering the HUGH requirements (800,000 Credits, Ace Rank, 500 Dominator Kills) I don't think anyone will be buying it anytime soon to see if it was truly fixed, but at least its clickable, excellent work!
Yes, that is the problem with testing it. I myself have not reached the requirements either, so I haven't been able to test that part yet. But if no one has reached the requi
I have successfully managed to fix the broken goods search by hex editing the executable file and inserting some new code to circumvent the problem. You can download the edited ranger.exe here: [link="http://www.mediafire.com/?ne1dd1nzc9b"]Download link[/link] Note that this exe also includes my fix for the Unique ship crash. Use at your own risk. Make sure to backup your original exe. Regards, Netriak. Edit: Replaced download link. The previous one did not include a fi

There is an option for windowed mode in space rangers 2 reboot.
What Brad Wardell said on the QuarterToThree forums regarding this issue:
Off the record: What we are looking at is providing customers with a cash coupon option so that you can literally use the tokens to get discounts on all titles. --- We just started talking on Friday. The challenge is that we have to create a coupon that acts more like one of those coupon cards where the amount left over stays on your card. That is, if you have say 4 tokens left, it would gi
When I tested it, it seemed to work correctly for: Food, Medicines, Weapons, Drugs. It worked incorrectly for: Luxury, Equipment, Alcohol, Minerals. Since it works correctly for half the goods, it is a more peculiar bug. Hmm, I know see exactly what the bug is. The order of the: Luxury, Equipment, Alcohol, Minerals Products is reversed. Because of that, the values that are being filtered are mixed up: Luxery Minerals Equipment Alcohol<br
The 2captain file is not part of reboot, but part of the original space rangers 2. As such, it probably is an incompatibility between the Direct2Drive version of the original and the expansion, as you thought it might be. Making a separate executable to solve such an incompatibility seems a needless amount of work, it would be far more sensible to allow you to download a compatible version of the package files. But I cannot help you with that, so you'll need to wait until
I know, I posted a thread about it in the game support forum: [link="http://forums.impulsedriven.com/315451"]Forum thread[/link] I have tried to fix the crash by patching the executable file with a hex editor and with help of a powerful debugger. You can download the fix here, although I can not guarantee that it will work: [link="http://www.mediafire.com/?kmwusylewwn"]Patch for Crash bug[/link] That said, it seemed to work fine for me, so why not give it a shot? <b

I was playing the new expansion of Space rangers 2, and in my new game I just got some messages that some unique ships/hulls had been build, one of the new features of the expansion pack. However, when I inquired about the unique ship/hull at the space station, the game immediately crashed. About the crash: - Trying it again did not work, it crashed every time. - Going to one of the other space stations and checking on their unique ship crashed too. - Loading an old existing savegame
How does it 'decide' where you are? Could we make another account to 'gift' our primary? Spoof the IP lookup? Or is it a simple matter of changing region in Windows?
It checks ip address and the billing country. Spoofing an ip will of course not work, since that will prevent a reply from coming to your computer. Using a proxy, however, will.
In the Ship Designs category for Core stuff, the Arnorian(s) set gets its commentary line right above the descriptive(s) (which are about five lines worth of components)... overlaying the characters underneath making the whole paragraph unreadable.
Fixed in the new version 1.7.4.17212.
Kay, what i've got is #36220 instead of #15964... could that mean the previous test would somehow twart the whole exercise? Anyway, i'll give it a try.
That will not be a problem, since the newer #36220 build contains the new frame-sizing code too.
treborblue: Now, first of all, is there perhaps something wrong with your twilight install? Is there a twilight subdirectory in the galciv2 directory? Are there files missing? If there is no obvious problem, can you post the data of the crash report? I also just uploaded a new version, 1.7.4.36220, that supports better error messages in case of missing data. Perhaps that version can tell you what is wrong. CommanderGizmo: What it is doing? Loading
I just uploaded another test build to the library: Galactopedia 1.7.4.15964. This build dynamically calculates the sizes and positions of the frames based on the actual needs. This should solve your display problem, I think. The frames should also look more consists in their sizes this way. Can you test whether this new build works for you, and perhaps supply a screenshot so that I can see whether everything now looks as it is supposed to?
Concerning how I solved the position of the combobox: I had previously hardcoded its position, anchored to the topleft. With your windows/.net settings/version however, the components look slightly differently and have different sizes too. So hardcoding it could simply not work. I changed the code so that it would calculate the position and size based on the position and size of the frame. That way it would always be at the right position. As I see it, the problem with the cutof
I just uploaded a new build of Galactopedia to the library: 1.7.4.16165. Since I was unable to replicate the problem with the combobox, I am not sure whether this will fix it. Can you try it out to see whether this new version solves the problem?
