So to answer my own question... here's a game I played today. It's a Diplomacy 4 player FFA, Vasari vs 3 hard AI's on the map Double Cross, standard start, normal speed everything, no allied victory, diplomatic victory on. Dip-Vasari_vs_3H_DoubleCross.zip Some comments on this: As in Zombie's game, I had to spend all of my early resourc
While I don't think the pirates are necessarily fine. Here is a replay in Diplomacy FFA against 3 Hard AI's with 2 allied victors only
Thank you very much for that replay! Watching it was very... illuminating (sorry, couldn't resist). It gave me some ideas for improvements to my game. You still had to spend a ton of resources to deal with the pirates, but it was interesting to me that you were able to accomplish it mostly
I can get an RSS feed from the General forum, but the Diplomacy forum gives me a feedburner error page.
For those who have no problem with the latest patch to Diplomacy: Pirates of a Solar Empire, I'd like to see a replay against 3 or more AIs set to Hard or harder difficulty. I want to see just how easy it is to defend against these pirates in the middle and end game. No mods for the replay, please, so that anyone can watch it. For my part, I'm curious why I find Hard difficulty challenging in Entrenchment, but in Diplomacy, I can barely hold my own against Normal difficulty AI. I end
I have not received a coupon. I also haven't played Demigod for a couple weeks. Connection? I was hoping to get Prototype...
I appreciate all the hard work and all, but this is ridiculous. I shouldn't have to forward ports to play a frickin game. I haven't had to forward ports for any other RTS I have played. I have UPNP enabled, and it has always worked fine for me. Forwarding ports is not a viable option for me, because my router only allows 5 or 6 ranges of ports to be forwarded. If I had to do that for every game I play, I'd quickly run out of ports. Also, I shouldn't have to care if I am direct
It's too bad you didn't use Games for Windows Live. I know a lot of people have issues because Microsoft is TEH EVILZ, but their multiplayer networking system and infrastructure is rock solid. It works great for Xbox LIVE and it works great in Dawn of War II. Maybe it wasn't a viable option for you for business reasons, but the technology is sound. Demigod's release is a textbook example of what happens when a software team gets into a "Not Invented Here" mode. I just hope you
Eh, I don't normally bother with citadel upgrades. The most I'll do is invest and get all the reinforcements, but only at the end of the game if I'm trying to destroy the enemy citadel... which doesn't happen often.
Hmm, now I wonder why that might be.
You're not a dummy. To quote Brad Wardell, "You're an idiot." :D The mode changes for Torch Bearer and Queen of Thorns aren't real obvious.
wow... i really didn't expect all this venom from such mean people i'm a long time customer with stardock actually, i only pointed out that i pirated the game to bring up the fact that i wanted the collector's edition for what that had instead of just the plain game itself which i already had pirated. i wanted to know what the differences were... thats all... its cool guys, i certainly won't be posting here again since its
why add that you pirated it in the topic? im tired of seeing these topics for demigod on various forums saying "oh i pirated it and now i want to buy it" you think that makes it ok? why not just call the store up and ask them if they have collectors edition? imo your post was usless and should be deleted.
No, because (as it was pointed out in another piracy thread) pirates are cooler than people with self contro
I have trouble with Tournament games on Hard difficulty. Mostly seems to be caused by the friendly AIs ignoring the game objectives and doing nothing but feed the other team. I can't imagine what it's going to be like playing the Tournament on Nightmare...
Ah, the good old entitlement generation speaks again. You do not have the right to be an ass in someone's house. If you piss them off and they send you packing, you got what you deserved. Yeah, in general, a CEO shouldn't call his customers idiots. If they're being idiots, though, and right to his face, using his chat service in his game, he can do whatever the hell he pleases in that context. I'm surprised this thread has made it this far without an analogy. Normally, you wou
Typically when I lose I get 10-25 favor points. That's not worth staying in the game for.
Although multiplayer works now its still a bare-bones interface that needs improving.
Multiplayer does *not* work now. For the past few nights, I've only been able to get into a couple of games, having tried dozens. In nearly every game there is someone who can't connect to someone else, or someone who doesn't connect at all. This happens both in Pantheon and custom games. If I'm hosting and I kick someone who can't connect to someone else, the game won't
- If you buy an Idol rank 1 , summon and sell it, and then buy another rank you'll be able to summon the pets. Ie : You can have all 8 Melee + 8 Priests + 8 Sieges. shhhhh nobody is supposed to know that
It's a feature. I've seen the AI do it.
Your Unclean Beast has a bag full of kittens? Or maybe you meant "pusbag".
Can I have your stuff?
Seriously. I just got out of a pantheon match with 4 players. All of us connected to each other, and then the game starts and I see nobody else on my side. There were no AIs in the game, either. Conquest on Crucible. This is ridiculous.
I know this probably isn't what you're talking about, but I've noticed an associated problem at the end of matches, when the scores are being shown. When I hit "Exit to Main Menu" sometimes the game makes a REALLY loud sound. It sounds like a bunch of different short sound effects from the game smashed together, and it's very, very loud. Anyone else hearing this?

Options are a funny thing. You'd think that having more choices available would make a game more fun, accessible to more people. In fact, having more options can be a bad thing. The more choices people have, the more likely they are to be unable to choose anything at all. In the context of Demigod, if there were a bunch of mods available, a lot of people would look at them all, and unable to decide which one was worth their while, wouldn't bother to play any of them. Or maybe they'd play anot
See, here's the thing about "try before you buy" piracy. It's not your decision to make. The creators of a game are the ones who get to decide how their product is copied and sold. This notion is codified by centuries of property law. If there's not a demo for a game, you do not have the right to decide for yourself that you can make a copy and call it a "demo". If there is a demo for a game (or one forthcoming), play the demo. That's the thing that the creators have m
Of course the OP is entitled to his own morals and values. That's why ESRB ratings exist, so that people can apply their morals and values to the things depicted in a video game. Where you get into trouble is coming to the web site for a game that is rated T for partial nudity, seeing the partial nudity on that very same web site, and then asking if there's really partial nudity in the game, because that offends you, but you still want to play the game. If partial nudity offends you, don't pl
