I can't imagine that there would be. I don't think that the game actually distinguishes between "battles." It just sees a whole bunch of ships flying around the map and if they happen to be fighting with something, so be it.

did I not explain that unless there is some amazing technological revolution that bends the fabric of our universe it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to get a net benefit out of said strategy? Well duh. What? You thought that everyone thought that this was going go happen tomorrow? If it ever does happen then it will be a LOOOOONG time in the future. And who knows what our technology will be like then?

sulfur-spewing tough-as-nails chalk tubes. I'm sure they taste absolutely GREAT!!! That was just my polite way of reminding you that not every form of life on this planet relies on the Sun for its energy. o.O do you realize the extreme amounts of feul you would need for that... thats unquestionably unfeasable. that will NEVER happen, it would be cheaper to make the rocket fuel edible... Seems pre

To my understanding, the wrecks hang around for a while. How long, exactly, that is I don't know. But they will eventually disappear because having too much debris to keep track of could start taking up too much computer resources and slow things down.

I got it and it sounds pretty nifty. But I don't think that Sins works this way. To my understanding, in Sins the way the your fleets become differentiated from those of another player of the same faction is in what upgrades you choose. As your ships level up you have options of what upgrade to put on them so those choices shape your fleet and make it unique. Outwardly your ships will look the same (structurally that is, colors may be different for each player) but their weapon

he said that the tidal forces (if I remember correctly) were somewhere withing 6,000 lightyears of the singularity at that point your velocity will have been so massive that you traverse that in less than the time it would take for the message to reach your brain. Hmm, 6,000 lightyears in a fraction of a second? Doesn't that violate the speed limit just a bit? Your numbers must be off there Schem.

Your loss Schem. Hiddenranbir: in singleplayer it can be as long as you want. But a multiplayer game needs to be shorter because it would be difficult to get the same 10 people to come back every day for your regularly scheduled game. If you can't finish a game in one sitting then more often than not you won't be able to get everyone back together again to finish it.

Agreed, that is a very thoughtful post... the only thing I don't like about it is the time that it requires. What if you are in trouble and need help NOW? You don't have 10 minutes to ally with someone else. You need to be able to quickly negotiate, beg, or bribe someone to help you. Also, in the event of betrayal, you need to be able to sever that relationship very quickly.

I did quite a bit of reading on this thing. Apparently this is more of a proof-of-concept than anything else. It is pretty narrow in its abilities and cannot compete (in terms of speed) with the more conventional methods that are currently applied to the kinds of problems that it is designed to solve. But the company that makes it has plans to be up to over 1000 qubits within a year vs the 16 qubits in this model (a qubit is a quantum bit) and that kind of system WILL be much faster than anythin

But on stats my view is: 1- All games played get stats recorded. 2- Only a players victories are displayed with their profile. 3- Stats carry forward from one profile to another. 4- The game should record losses for rank calculation if required but not display the information publically. Sounds good to me.
