I get a consistent crash when using Techsmith's SnagIt screen capture program on Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Windowblinds 6.1 build 91 x64 Vista Edition. Once SnagIt is minimized to the systray I cannot right-click on it without crashing the program. This drastically reduces the utility of SnagIt. If I put in a per-app exclusion for SnagIt the problem goes away. Other than this SnagIt doesn't seem to have any issues with Windowblinds as everything else I've tried with the prog

Impulse reports that my serial # for my Object Desktop subscription is invalid. The serial # on the registration screen is correct and Impulse allows me to download and install the components of Object Desktop but that line on the reg screen is highlighted in red and has "Invalid" in the expiration date column. Puzzling. Magus

Two things that I find myself missing are the ability to sort the window and to look at detail information. I tend to sort the main SDC window by the update date and that capability seems to be missing from Impulse. It would also be nice if the equivalent of the SDC install date and update date information were available from the main Impulse window. Cheers Magus

I've run into an odd problem with the latest beta. This is a fresh install of the whole game on a fresh, fully patched, install of Windows XP Pro. All the other bits of GalCiv 2 installed without a hitch but Twilight won't install. When the download meter gets to 100% it just resets to 0% and starts downloading the same thing all over again. I've tried rebooting but no joy. X-( Any thoughts? Magus

I'm going to have to add my voice to the chorus. I'm experiencing the same problem and it started with the update to Beta 3 on a Windows XP system. Reboots don't fix the issue . What does "fix" it for at least a while is going into the CursorFX control panel and changing cursors. The problem eventually resurfaces though.

StardockWeather.ocx is not registered and is required for use of this application. You may have a security application (antivirus, antispyware, etc) that prevented the registering of this module during the MyColors setup. Please contact [email protected] for assistance. Is what I get when I try to run the weather gadget. This is on Vista Ultimate x64. Magus Edit: It magically fixed itself with a reboot. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Smil

Both DreamScene and Windowblinds were installed through SDC by virtue of my Object Desktop subscription. Yesterday the issue would reoccur with any skin other than Windows Aero and was repeatable through multiple reboots. Today I can't get the problem to recur. I suspect it was a timing issue during the startup process where DreamScene was trying to load before Windowblinds had finished loading. If I can get it to happen again in a repeatable fashion I'll post aga

I'd held off on installing any version of WB until the promised 64-bit support appeared in Windowblinds 6. Now whenever I start Vista DreamScene comes up with an error at startup. "Windows DreamScene cannot start. Windows DreamScene can only run when Windows Aero scheme is selected." DreamScene ran perfectly on this system prior to the installation of Windowblinds 6. If, post-startup, I manually start DreamScene then all is well. Until the next startup. I'm running

I echo Brad's comment on the length of time it can take to kill a ship. Yes it may be realistically depicting turn-rates and arcs of fire but it drags the game play down. My chief wish at the moment is for the screen to scroll when the mouse hits the edge of the screen. It's very annoying to have to zoom-out, find the whatever, click on it to center the screen, then zoom-back in.

It's too bad that Vista Enterprise doesn't qualify for DreamScene, or any of the Vista Ultimate Extras for that matter, means I won't be able to play with it. Unless MS changes it's mind.

Hmm, it should have taken planets from all the civs Hi Cari. The pop-up said that they took two planets and that's what they took. There were five races in the game at this point and if they'd taken even one planet from everyone it would have re

In a DA game over the weekend, between one turn and the next the Drengin jumped from around 40K influence to 220K influence. Their influence literally swamped half the galaxy. I couldn't find any explanation for the gain. No influence starbases, only three, tightly clustered worlds.

Due to the situation in the game at the time it was an unsalvageable event. Using agents wasn't an option as the homeworld had a counter-espionage facility. The Jagged Edge got a highly productive world and all the tech from the most advanced race in the game. This was in a tiny galaxy with few habitable worlds so I was left with two PQ 5 worlds and one PQ 10 world. With a good chunk of my fleet gone pretty much every other race in the game declared war on my race. Yes I cou

In my first game with DA beta 2 I had the "Jagged Knife" event hit. I got the pop-up proclaiming that the Jagged Knife had taken two over two worlds from good-leaning civs and that one of the worlds was one of mine. When I looked to see which planet I'd lost it turned out to be my homeworld. My fully developed, 90+ percent happy, homeworld. Needless to say this pretty much killed that game. Out of all the worlds belonging to good-leaning civs. I think that's a bit m

Brad wrote: I'm a bit bummed to see that agents aren't well loved. The thing about them is that a few spies on your planets really don't do much damage but many players really dislike the concept of havign even a single spie on their worlds. I mentioned this in another thread but I'll expand on it here. In the DA games I've played the espio

Very interesting thoughts on changes to espionage. I particularly like the idea of the "Internal Security" slider. In it's present state espionage is too much like playing a game of "Whack-a-mole".

What about pre-ordering Dark Avatar if you already have a TGN subscription and tokens to spend? SDC doesn't show Dark Avatar as an available item to spend tokens on and the TGN web site doesn't seem to have a way for me to authenticate to the site. Puzzled.

I've used both Winstep, now Winstep Xtreme, and Stardock's products for years and they complement each other. I much prefer the Nextstart component to ObjectBar and while I use Object Desktop for various things I still prefer the flexibility and low profile that Winstep provides. The battle between the Workshelf component and ObjectDock is a tighter one. I'm running ObjectDock right now but each one has advantages in different areas.

On an unrelated note...where are the 'Good alignment' armor improvements? they seem to have not been added to the game or to Brad's known issues list. The evil weapons are spiffy though. There's a bug that prevents Subspace Rebounder, Dynamic Shielding, and Telepathic Defense from working in the current release. The Devs are aware of the issue
