was one(or more) of the AIs advent? if so it could just be the karmic retribution thing tossing free bounty on you when you blow up a trade ship... I finished my Go Big or Go Home achievement game with over 30k bounty on my head from my cap ship fighters blasting trade ships.
Not my play style, but you can still bite me OP.
I call bullshit, this from the guy who'd play homeworld 2 for 2 or 3 hours just to max out his battlecruiser fleet and have his defenses all nice and shiny before he raped the AI :P Its just not your ONLY play style, it is, however, one of them, lol
Both the SDC update and the standalone one via the Sins website are fine, and the same, regardless of the fact that the version numbers are slightly different. The Impulse update is the one that sometimes gives trouble (and it was pulled quite a while ago).-HM
no, I had to download it from the site, the SDC update did nothing at all. What you're saying is the "official" story but unless they've fixed the SDC one already, then all it does is check against file versions y
it appears as though the 1.03 patch has been re-pushed through SDC with a modified version number, there are no changes from 1.03 to 1.04 SDC, the real patch is on the sins web site. Somebodys gonna come in to work on monday and go "whoops".
Yes, and Blizzard just removed the CD check for Starcraft. But how long has that been out? I don't see them removing DRM immediately for new games.-HMWhy not? Does CD check based DRM actually prevent piracy ? No(copy the CD, or if that doesn't work use an emulator -- SecuRom will be patched around in days). Does it inconvenience customers? yes.
Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120% ftw. As a worst case anyways, for a long time I had a few dozen CD images on my HDD to preven
Reasoning is: anything else and a good player will slaughter you
QFT Advent can really steamroll enemy fleets with very few losses with the right balance, but Defense frigates and crusaders are definitely a must for anti strike craft. Advent rely heavily on cap ship abilities and microing your caps, base your fleet around cap ships and build defense frigs/crusaders to support them, along with subjugators. Note: This is the ONLY race that actually has dec
Hmmm...Seems to me the Advent player would rarely have time to get his capital ships up to that level before the TEC player obliterates him. Nice try though. I just don't think that would work in a 1v1.
The first thing I do is toss cap ships out for leveling as advent... by the time someone gets 50 or so cobalts it wouldn't be anything strange for me to have 1 cap at lvl 6 and 2 more @ lvl 3. Not to mention that a radiance w/ progenitor/haly backup is going to smoke wh
Maybe in the expansion we'll see a vastly improved AI. With the rather huge percentage of players (IMHO) that go for SP over MP (even then often as co-op), i expect it would be worth the effort for IC to take on such a task.
Indeed it would be worth the effort. Currently the AI needs some buffing for the really hardcore players(maybe a This-Is-Just-Plain-Ridiculous/You-Will-Lose setting that gives the AI 5x normal resource income? for a quick fix?) As such the A
aye, you can work around it, but changable formations would be nice(haven't found a way to do this yet if it is in there) It hasn't mattered to me much as the default formations work perfectly for me anyways.
Another idea that would be helpful is to enable a "report this post" option so registered users can flag spam and deliberately inflamatory posts for moderation before they get out of hand.
I second this motion!
Here's a question: How much help is it for all of these myriad threads popping up that do nothing but offer vague, general praise of SD and Sins? Doesn't that also add to the singal-to-noise ratio?Ah, but compliments are signal -- insults you
ihave played it is freeWhy did you dig up an old thread like this? It's been almost 2 months since the last reply and your message.Btw, I do not buy games that have monthly fees and I do not use multiplayer services that cost money. It doesn't matter how good the game is, I won't do it on principle.
Adding to the necro! I will pay a monthly fee based on patches/general player support/game quality etc. If all that stuffs good, then they deserve my monies anyhow...
/signed The direct dev support and lack of DRM would win me over any day... but in addition to that sins is just a completely amazing, totally addictive strat game. I'm hooked even worse than when starcraft first came out O_o. I'm glad i bought this game while I was at the start of a vacation... otherwise I don't think I'd have a job anymore... something about that unshaven, sunken-eyed, falling-asleep-standing-up look that doesn't appeal to most employers... I'll never understand why.
Halycon, Progenitor, Radiance Haly has +22% dps aura and an insane amount of strike craft, not to mention the ability that pwns enemy strike craft. Progenitor can colonize and has aoe invulnerability aura(at least close enough to it), oh and auto levels your replacement caps if one of your other caps dies.(haven't actually seen this work yet, but putting it on autocast seems to cast it whenever a cap dies in the game period, not just your own :/) and of course, malice, which is
Unfortunately, truth to tell, Ironclad don't know you did that. For all they know, you could be pirating the game and complaining to them why the key is not working. I know, highly unlikely but people are stupid that way. Which is why they asked for a proof of purchase.
Not as highly unlikely as you might think, I know someone that spent 6 hours on the phone with microsoft tech support back when xp first came out with a pirated copy and he couldn't get his ftp t
even with locked teams and no diplo, if you are the strongest player, you'll be facing attacks from multiple AIs, they'll just be shooting each other at the same time that they're shooting you That said, trashing the game for a diplo system that is actually quite good already, but admittedly needs some tweaking, is utter idiocy on your part... honestly I sometimes wonder why the IC devs still read these forums at all.
Ok, so it's #2 BUT:1- Digital sales not included.2- Walmart not included.3- Only available in North America at the moment. 4- Not much advertising/hype compared to other games.5- New and unheard of game developer. AND no copy protection...I do believe this ends the debate that piracy is the biggest problem facing PC gaming. About time to flush the toilet of the PC gaming world and get rid of a few names and that funky smell.
/signed
more or less the same for me, except I usually slam out all of the harvesters right away, then upgrade population @ home planet and then get a cap and start scouting
probably some sort of supervirus nano-thingy that just makes them go completely insane and draw and quarter themselves with pink space ponys
Suggested start for advent: first build a cap factory and a cap ship(progenitor, haly, or radiance, I prefer haly) get 3 harmony labs asap, research culture building, trade ports, and faster research tech first, unless you happen to need one of the planet col techs right away. then blast through to 9 hostility, getting defense frigates asap then illums. and of course expand as fast as you damn well can. edit: forgot to mention that you *can* scuttle the cap ship factory right away... bu

WTB forum mod that hasn't had his banhammer arm fall into muscle atrophy from lack of use. And the fact that this actually got stickied, and still IS stickied is just well... mind boggling. More constructive thoughts: The data on zyxils sheet is all either A) available from in game infocards or B) available from dev posts. However since you've blatantly ignored these facts in this, and other, threads I don't expect you'll be listening to it now. I also expect an updated list of
