Hey everyone. The last 3-4 games, I've been having trouble with DA crashing on me. My screen will go black and I will get the 'Gal Civ II Dark Avatar needs to close blah blah blah' message. Recently I've been getting a lot of errors telling me that my virtual memory is low. I'm not sure if this is what causes the game to crash, but I figured I'd mention it since it may just be a case of needing more RAM. I can't tell much about my system since I'm a novice user, but I

I know how much you like custom ships, so here's another masterpiece!!! It's called the 'Drill Ship' I was thinking of calling it the vampire ship, but that sounded a little too sinister for the Arceans. :p<br
That is weird. The only normal thing I see there is several civs going to war with you because you attacked the Terrans.
I noticed a bug earlier as well. If press F1 and go onto the planets section, and then click foreign, you can see what all your rivals are building. Or at least I could, for a while. I never tried it again.
Another one :
I'm sorry everyone, I'm not very imaginative. :(
I think the newest patch fixes everything that I mentioned. I thought I was running the latest version, but there's a bug with star dock central that tells you that you're running the latest version when you aren't. If you want to have a go at fixing it, have a look in the "Fleets unable to move W/Dark Avatar" thread.
ha, nice. :)
I have 3 problems here. 1-I can't seem to be able to attach the Extras addons to any of my ship designs. I click them but the place button never activates. 2-I'm can't seem to grasp the concepts between my work forces. I notice sometimes when I'm researching I have income, then I go to social or military and all the sudden I'm losing a lot of money. I guess I'm having a hard time designating a balance between factories and research facilites and possibly banking. Any
I don't think it'd work for this game. It works for civ, because sometimes after a victory is achieved, the game can still go either way. Then again, I don't see how the option to continue would be harmful.
Some planets can't be colonized. Hover your mouse over them to see their planet class. If it comes up as 'Planet Quality 0' it cannot be colonized. Also, if nothing at all comes up, then you may be looking at a star system and not a planet. Have you tried using the in-game tutorials? They can probably explain better than me. :(
For grievance #1 (and maybe #2) see this thread here: [link="https://forums.galciv2.com/303072"]clickies[/link]
Use spies on any farm on a planet you will invade the turn before you invade. This will bring the population don to 6 billion (for non-home planets).
:o That's a really good tip. I've been playing a really good game today where I've had to fight three defensive wars. I will usually just put a rally on the influence border between me and an opponent/potential opponent. However, if they're in my space, I will try to put a centralized one in betwee
Yes, MadDjinn, SDC is reporting the version number incorrectly. (Why, I don't know.) But the fix-or rather, one way to fix it-is above in my original post in this thread.I actually thought my instructions were fairly simplistic, and exported the registry key in the first place in an attempt to make things less complicated when people run into this problem. My apologies if I wasn't clear enough.I don't honestly know why people are still running into this problem, but following either my
SDC says that I have 1.80g.100 (downloaded DA this past weekend) and I still have this issue. (on a laptop)For the upgrade, is it a matter of the wrong version shown in SDC?(I'm also on US-1)
Same here, except I'm using a PC.
Hey all, I wasn't sure whether to post this in the modding section or this one here, so forgive me if I'm wrong in posting this question here. I've recently started experimenting with modding and heard that using mods can put some kind of cheat flag on your metaverse profile. I'm looking for a little more info on this. What I'm basically wanting to do with mods is make funny races. I'm not really interested in making them super-powerful, I'd be happy to have them at normal o
Hey, I'm not sure if these bugs are new or not, but I decided to report them anyway. #1 If a planet is in between a ship and its designated rally point, sometimes the ship will run into the planet and start orbiting it (or trying to colonise it) instead of just going around to get to its rally point. I also noticed that this will sometimes happen to ships that are in auto-explore mode. #2 Sometimes flagships can sit on top of anomalies without surveying them. I
Weird double post. See the newer version of this topic here.
It's reason. :) Anyway, have you tried using the civilization manager governers and waypoints to co-ordinate your ships? I find that helps a bit, but I still have trouble co-ordinating them myself.
Not that I know of, but I would like an option to watch games like this.
Your first few turns will depend on what type of victory you're going for. If you want to win via conquest, you'll be getting weapon techs and planetary invasion sooner than say, diplomacy ones. (This doesn't mean you can ignore earlier techs, anything that takes you more than 15 weeks to do is too long so you should research some other techs first) In terms of colonising planets, you should usually get as many as you can, starting with the good ones. At the start, I'd
I think I read a topic on this issue a few days ago. I'm pretty certain they use all their abilities. Have you checked how much they had before the game and how much they had during the game?
Do you have to be evil?
Thanks, I suspected as much with some more fiddling. I think the new stuff did overwrite the old stuff, luckily. Thanks again for your help.
Hey, I just purchased the Ultimate edition of Galciv II but I'm having trouble uninstalling my old second hand version. The game doesn't seem to have an uninstall option, and I've tried using the add/remove feature through the windows control panel. All it said was something along the lines of 'file not found, cannot uninstall' and then asked me if I would like to remove it from the add/remove list. I've just noticed that Stardock central will let me uninstall one version of the ga
