Tried with the desktop resolution set to 1024x768 and had the same fps. In other news, the edit button's missing in my previous post so I can't fix the quote for some reason. Thanks again.
Mr Nice Guy
You appear to be running the game at 1024x768, while your desktop is 1280x1024. Are you running in a window? If so, you should try running fullscreen, as windowed mode most generally does cause some performance loss. No, not running in windowed mode. I'll try making my desktop resolution 1024x768 and see if that makes any difference. Thanks.
I tried the new update on Windows XP. I finally got a program that lets me take screenshots & display fps so I ran some tests. Here's a recap of my debug.err. I'm running the 1.6 beta 1 and just had this event happen about a turn or two after I declared war on the Korath. They're destroying EVERYTHING. I can't make a single ship without these guys taking it out. Not a single race is anywhere near the tech level it would take to destroy these things. It's as if the game is just ruined. Any word on what's going on or how to deal with this. It'd be fine if it was on a timer, like they rampage for so long then disappear again.
If you've customized the custom race in the past (for an AI or otherwise), did you change the alignment then? Customs normally default to 50 (Neutral). You may try clearing customizations in the galaxy creation screen, and failing that, delete the Custom Race.customracexml file in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar. Thanks kyro, clearing and remaking the race worked. Started out neutral this go around. Keep up the good work all.
I started a few other games and the same thing happened. What exactly is the issue? Nobody else seems to have recently posted a similar problem (make sure you're on the latest page of the thread!). Yeah, I guess I didn't explain well enough. When I started the game with my custom race, it automatically starts me at the far right of the ethics spectrum, being pure evil. I would have thought you would start o
I just started my first metaverse game using the DA 1.6 beta 1 and I started the game as pure evil. I started a few other games and the same thing happened. I use a custom race and even in the default description, it says "The evil (custom race name)...". Is this normal?
Sound Blaster Audigy2 zs (latest driver) Nvidia Geforce 7950 GT (latest driver) Some many people say they have the latest ones when they dont... This may come as surprise but you should probably post your debug.err Fancy that Debug.err's take
We don't render ships that are defending a planet, unless you're zoomed in really close and you have the little ships flying around. You can turn that off in the options screen, though. As for the lag while scrolling, does it help if you hit the little button that hides the minimap + context area? We will see what we can do to improve performance for 1.6 My framerate is fine until there's a lot on screen then it'
I just deleted a starbase that I accidentally misplaced and all the modules dissapeared from the graphic but the basic starbase is still there. Not the actual starbase, just the graphic. Also this happened when some enemies took out one of my resource starbases. If I reload the game, the left-over bases are gone as they should be. Nividia 7950 w/ latest drivers.
Be able to rename uncolonized planets. you can rename uncolonized planets, even planets colonized by another player. you just can't rename zero-quality planets. or stars. Can you tell me how please? I just tried clicking on an uncolonized, quality 4 planet, and I can't find anywhere that lets me rename it. I've found where I can rename even alien colonized worlds but not uncolonized ones.
Be able to center view on rally points or some sort of map bookmark system. Be able to rename uncolonized planets. Show on the unowned planet list if it's colonizable or not with an icon. Show the actual research report come up when you gain a tech through trading. Make the ship upgrade list alphabetical. Be able to minimize the end of turn report. For example, if I lose a couple battles in a turn I'd like to be able to center on the battle, minimize
Heh, another fault on my part. I meant I wished the unowned list showed if I could colonize or not just like nonexistant said.
Ahh yeah, should've specified that I meant group stacks of fleets.
Great game and I thought that since the devs actually use input from the boards (crazy I know) it was worth a shot. A few minor tweaks that would make things a bit better imo. If these functions already exist somewhere, please let me know. Planet Naming. I'd simply like to be able to name uncolonized planets. Planet List. An icon indicating if it's colonizable or not would be nice. Easier to pick through to find ones you should send ships to. Tech Trades. I'd lik
CTD while double-clicking a drath scout ship, I would post my debug.err but it's insanely long.
Ah, that explains the * & + problem, thanks for letting me know. To continue, this time when I saved over a previous design with the same name, it kept the equipment from the old design. I had to re-save it for the changes to take place.
Update: Repeatable bug. I upgraded my "Ao I" design to be "*Ao". When I finished it was a random jumble of stuff. I upgraded my "Ao I" design to be "+Ao" and it saved correctly. My survey ship template saved correctly in a previous game. I started a new one and it's missing. Bear in mind it's a standard small hull with nothing but eye-candy on it so technology shouldn't be keeping it from showing. Am I the only one having template problems?
Small update: I am still getting the problem where new ship designs are being placed in templates even though I didn't check the box.
Hmm, well the templates are back after I exited the game and restarted a new game. Not sure what was going on but I'll keep an eye on it and see if it happens again.
I started a game and created about 8 templates. When I started a new game with the same custom civilation, there were no user templates but the ship designs were saved. Also, seemingly at random, when I create a ship design it'll create a template even though I didn't check the box to create one. A few ideas I had... - Autolaunch feature to reduce rally clutter. - Sortable rally list. On a gigantic galaxy, having to scroll through the entire list to find just the rally you want can be rough after awhile. - A hotkey to lock & unlock a stack of ships together and move them together at the speed of the slowest ship would help managing those large fleets. I'd love if these found there way into the game and wouldn't be difficult in my limited non-programmer imaginat
I don't know about anyone else, but I really like to get exactly the information I'm looking for quickly. Map (Normal, Mini, and Tactical) - Sortable maps would be great. The minimap already has some of what is needed but if this was expanded to the other maps it would be really handy IMO. - Possible sort options: ..By race ..By Ally, neutral, enemy ..Combat or non-combat ..Starbases ..Trade ..Mining resources - Being able to bookmar
I'm having a hard time on normal now whereas before it was usually pretty smooth sailing. For the first time on normal an enemy declared a pre-emptive war on me and are being really aggressive.
Ok, after playing for a little while, whenever I open the planet list it will open with the scroll icon all the way down and the list is blank. I simply have to scroll up with my mouswheel for the list to appear. If I reload the save game the list works normally for a while.
