At least a working tool-tip for the picture to tell us what the component is would be very helpful. I can see where an automatic upgrade button might cause problems. Moving from Stinger II to III makes sense as it is smaller. Moving from Stingers to Harpoons does not work as well as the first Harpoon is bigger than the last Stinger. Tony

I did not get the expansion pack for GalCiv1 as I did not perceive it to be a good value for me. I am almost exclusively a sandbox mode player, so a new campaign, map editor, scenarios and editor did not interest me. I know there were some new ships, techs and so on, but it seemed to me the Campaign and editors where the emphasis of the expansion. I have the same concerns for the GalCiv2 expansion pack. Unless it adds a lot to the sandbox

The beta's are only available trough Stardock Centeral. I'm sure once the Stardock folks are in the office in the morning, they will get you squared away with your serial number. Tony

While I would enjoy tactical combat done right, I think it would take an enormous amount of effort to do it right by the time you factor in a competent AI and all the other factors that some other posters have already posted. I guess the effort would be equivalent to writing an entirely new game, minus the graphics engine. That is effort that can better be spent on improving and expanding on what GalCiv2 already does best. It's my belief t

The save system changed a patch or two ago, so saves from a previous version may not work. Do you still have crashes if you start a new game with the current patch? I'm no expert on your sound card, but your drivers for it date back to 05/23/2005, almost three years ago. Tony

Constructors give more game place choices. You have to successfully get them to a starbase to upgrade it. You can interdict other player's Constructors. You can gather a bunch together to quick build a military starbase next to an alien planet you are going to take over. I don't think they are too much to micro-manage when repeat building and waypoints for navigation are used. Tony

Berry, Just copy and past the first several sections that tell about your computer, vid card and so on to the forums here. It's at least a start. Tony

You are at least one Beta version behind. The most recent was released last night (April 19). Try running the Stardock Smart Exception program found in the free section of Stardock Central while playing. It can tell the programmers what lines of code are crashing for you. Tony

How stable is this beta? I don't like getting my hopes up for something only to have it crash every hour, so I've been avoiding the betas. Until perhaps now. Brad did say this is expected to be the last beta. I had zero crashes in two games with the most previous version. Tony </fo

The range does not change. Sensor ranges can be increased, but the influence range of a starbase is fixed. Tony

I'm not see the problems you are. The patch notes for this patch do indicate there could be problems with previous saves. Tony
