Really? Pirates I kinda snicker about, but at least I sorta get why new players may be caught off guard by them. But culture ?? Holy crap, build 1-2 structures, DONE. Easiest thing in the game to counter. I've always been disappointed in how ineffective culture-spamming is.
So you say the devs communicate less than with Fallen Enchantress?
Right. Putting aside replies within threads, there were... what, *8* dev journals for FE in the month April alone? Then another seven threads started in the "Sneak Peek" section that month. This is getting off track, though, I was just saying how much more quiet it's been than previous Ironclad/Stardock releases. I'm not
From when? Most of the actual implementation for this is being done by Stardock, not Ironclad, so of course it will be different from Sins' early days.
As I said previously, different from how it was in Sins vanilla, Entrenchment, Diplomacy. If you want to say that Stardock is doing this one and not Ironclad, then it's different from how they've done any of their previous or current (Fallen Enchantress) game

It doesn't take much to pop in once a week and provide an update. Right now we're "beta testers" but is anyone even listening? Who knows? It's just surprising because they used to interact with the community quite a bit. That's fine if they choos

I've felt there's been a serious lack of communication throughout this entire Beta process. Maybe they're busy on Sins of a Dark Age? I'm not trying to stir anything up, but they were present on the forum in previous releases (Vanilla/Entrenchment/Diplomacy) but I rarely see a post these days.

Still, stuff like 2x starbase and allying with pirate/neutrals has an effect on how you play the game. The new Advent stuff leads to playing almost the exact same way as before, there's nothing really new or "Oh, wow!" about it. I'm not being hyperbolic when it feels like, to me, that they ran out of ideas. I'm not saying that's the case, I'm sure it isn't, but that's how it felt when I unlocked the new Advent stuff. An additional numerical bonus here or there or p

I was pretty bored with the new Advent stuff in the inadvertent "sneak peak", I was hoping it was just because they weren't ready yet but it doesn't sound like that's the case. I think all their new stuff (I played Loyalist) was pretty bland and I ended up playing them exactly like I had in Trinity.

This is WONDERFUL news. I got soooooooooo tired of the MPers helping to ruin the single player game of Age of Wonders:Shadowmagic which is now just a POS game nobody plays. Got soooooooooooo tired of balance balance balance from the MP crowd. Now, this game doesn't have

I'll be blunt. I can understand the reasons for not including MP, based on time, budget, or a combination of the two. What is really, and I mean really rubbing me the wrong way is how the information regarding the complete removal of MP was just kind of dribbled out two days before beta. I would not have purchased Elemental without MP, and while that game was a bust I've been patiently waiting for a year as Stard

This is offtopic and no disrespect or slight intended to the OP, but would it be possible to lock this forum so only Stardock employees can create threads? Kind of a bummer to see a new Sneak Peek posted only to realize it's.... not.

I'm really excited about these AI entries, Brad. What you have posted in Part One sounds awesome. As a developer who mainly deals with boring systems stuff (automated rollout/deployment systems for datacenters and the like) I've had no exposure to AI but it's something that has always really intrigued me. Really looking forward to the next installment!

The fact that it's free to people who bought War of Magic means those people who were the ones "burned" by it get to try it out for free. Sigh, I'm looking forward to this like I was Elemental back in the day. Really looking good, Derek & Team, keep up the amazing work. Once bitten twice shy, but it's really looking like I'm going to be getting the game I was expecting last year after all... it's just been a little delayed :)
Multiplayer Since I don’t want that dangling out there, multiplayer matters to me personally but we know the hard statistics on the % of people who play turn-based strategy games MP (and I mean industry wide). The word tiny comes to mind. That said, Elemental will be receiving multiplayer love
You made my day with this part. I realize that I'm a niche of a niche here, but MP was the critical issue

Is anyone else seeing some ridiculously sized initial pirate attacks? I'm talking 30-50+ of most ship types, 20+ heavy cruisers, etc. I don't remember this happening prior to Diplomacy 1.3. It's rather impossible to stop at the 15 minute mark, considering they nuked a triple-upgraded starbase in under 15 seconds! I thought I'd bring it up here, because I saw someone mention something similar in the new Mad Scientist thread. I'm curious if anyone else is seein
