As there are some familiar faces and old friends around here, I've decided to become a Diplomat (as long as you've got no rules about exterminating Yor with extreme prejudice)... for now. Was toying with the idea of starting up my own Empire, but haven't really got the time to maintain a website et al right now, so lets get it on. One point you might be interested in, a Cultural w

OK, so I've got a nice approval rating going with Zero-G Sports Arenas built as required (+55% morale). Researched VR Centres and all the ZGs were set to auto-upgrade to VRCs..... which only appear to carry a +40% morale bonus? So the "upgrade" is actually a 15% downgrade. I'm sure this is just a simple fix, and not that much of a problem now that I know to never bother researching VRCs. Cheers all!
Cheers for the Birthday greets folks! Just played the first full game, and it went OK. Here's one little niggle for you, dunno if this is by design but it's weird if it is: Got a nice approval rating going with Zero-G Sports Arenas built as required (+55 morale). Researched VR Centres and all the ZGs were set to auto-upgrade to VRCs..... which only carry a +40 morale bonus <
Going good thanks! Been a little busy with work, so not doing much on the gaming front apart from a brief sojourn with Civ4 - but the thing was so damned buggy and slow... and not really that good IMO Anyway, got Stardock's e-mail about my eligibility to get GC2 for free (hell, you can't knock Brad & co for customer support and loyalty <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Con
Hey damoose! How's it going? No other crazy Canucks for you to hang out with around here yet then?
Lurking around, here and there.... Those damned Iconians have got a lot to answer for!
Mag. Try this:-
Thanks DW, that worked. Didn't know about that "restore" method - very useful. :)
OK, I click on the link posted at the top by Carielf and get an error about it not being available - where do I find out what's changed? Not that it matters much as Stardock Central won't even launch anymore - tries to do an auto-update and fails, closing down again. Anyone know how I can disable the auto-update?
I think it might be V1.2085 actually, but there was very little (if any) difference between the two.
Well it seems this is sorting itself out thanks to the mature attitude of all involved, but let's try and keep things friendly here and reach a level of compromise acceptable to all. To T3C and VoT, a good idea in itself (and potentially very useful) but possibly not for this forum - remember this forum is hosted by Stardock, a software developer, and they may not take too kindly to articles that could be viewed as "advertising" other software products. So... where... well the
Influence takes a few turns to re-calc properly after a reload, so that could explain why you saw the first set of numbers.
Hmmm, my AP saves are all between 1.4 meg (large map saves) and 2 meg (huge map saves), so you must have something funny going on somewhere. :notsure:
There is a report on the current top players in the latest issue of the Metaverse Review if you're interested. http://mvreview.galciv.org/index.php?id=6 This is not an exhaustive list as there are many great players now retired (and some not retired) who never had the chance to reach 1 million points, as games scored far less in the early days of the Metaverse. Ray The Wanderer, Vincible, Wild Wombat, Maxtipherous to name just a few.
No, it doesn't seem to matter where SDC is installed. I installed SDC on G: drive, but the AP install insisted on going to %systemdrive%\program files\stardock. Even if program files doesn't exist on system drive, it creates one. Most unfortunate, as I also prefer to have nothing additional installed on System.
Good point PP, I never build them so that could explain it. :)
Who would want to play two technology wins in a month?
Who would want to play two tech wins ever? LOL
Don't forget the "your ambassador insulted xxxx" before you've even discovered xxxx. ;) How about the Drengin deciding to convert to preaching good and kindness, or losing control of their senate... 5 years after you wiped them out. ;)
Getting desperate are we? LOL LOL LOL
Morale doesn't help much unfortunately - I've had 5 systems, all at 100% morale and the whole lot has flipped to the fundies as soon as they appear. The only way to deal with this ridiculous event is load from an autosave - and is the only reason I have autosave switched on at all. >:(
I've included this in the latest issue of the Metaverse Review. http://mvreview.galciv.org/index.php?id=5
The current build of AP is good to go as far as stability and major bug removal are concerned. A few minor "string not found" text bugs still around, but CTDs are few and far between now. Another factor that affects scoring is the alignment of the AIs. Not sure exactly how much it affects it, but you seem to get more points for having more evil AIs at startup. I wish all game developers had the same attitude as Stardock with regards to after-sales support, and direct selling. I feel much happier knowing my money is going to the people who deserve it (i.e. the developers) rather than some faceless publisher and a high street store that puts an outrageous markup on. Unfortunately, I didn't discover Stardock until after purchasing Galciv from a high street store (albeit at a discount). Needless to say, any future Stardock products will be purcha
Hmmm...well, just submitted a game and my total games went down by two.
Oooh, that shouldn't start happening to you until the middle of next month. Every other profile with game loss I have looked at only loses games after 331 days. :notsure:
Magnumaniac I agree you are a new, but how do you keep new players who do not want to exploit the game interested?
I think Theoden summed it up pretty well - an active empire which offers far more than just submitting games. The CSF are fairly similar Tech - you have Damoose (amongst others), who rarely submits, but is still very interested in the mechanics and strategies of the game and very active in the forums. Our own Genghis Hank is trying to reach the top 2
