Ever since I made the 5800 pixel wide design for my homepage [1] I wanted to do a sequel that would extend the original concept. A few months back I registered an accoun

Every few years I start off in a search for those rare gems in CGI graphics or standard animation short films. A few years back, that made me discover renowned classics like "For The Birds" [1], The "Chubb Chubbs" [2] and "Gas Planet" [3]. My new search has brought forth a few interesting shorts, which I'd like to present here: Katedra (also known as
Thanks, that was actually quite enlightening. I haven't personally worked with assembler, but your search reminded me of all the times I edited savegames in search for the money spots
That spam you received comes from a new german virus based on the 'Sober' virus. It uses all contacts stored in Outlook Express on infected computer to send messages hostile to foreigners. I have a german email address on which I'm currently topping at 600 of virus mails per day... This reawakens old nordic genes that tell me to go get my axe and behead a few of the authors of those texts <img src="http://images.stardock.com/wc/smiles/Mad.gif" border=0

Well, first off: yes, I am crazy. That having been taken care of, let me present the online GalCiv Game Manager: In my everlasting hunt for the ultimate starting location (CTRL+N until you drop), I needed a tool to help me calculate which starting location would win. The principle is simple: enter a number of planets and their initial qualities, and by help of a rating system calculate which starting location is the best. I usually go about it like this: set up the new game (pr
Thanks for pointing this out, Draginol... being one of the developers from an open source application portal (PHP Application Tools, http://www.php-tools.net), I have noticed this behavior too. From people who demand better documentation to those that want us to change our coding style, we've seen it all. Thanks for your 5 rules, they are enlightning Oh, and by the way: keep up
There's also a petition going on: http://www.petitiononline.com/MoM2/petition.html ...I've got giant turtles and stag beetles in my backyard :)
I use a small collection of mods I made myself, and none from the library (they don't do what I want).
I'll sponsor 4 pre-orders myself, and I'll enlist everybody I can get my hands on :D
That is essentially what we would do. Take the original game and enhance the graphics
Well, in essence it is very simple: now that you've got us all drooling like fools at the mere thought of a Master of Magic sequel, you can't back up. And if you do, we'll buy Stardock and make you do it LOL
The changelog of GalCiv only mentions a 1.01A.30 version released on March 31, 2003 - after that it jumps to 1.02, so it has to be even before that... :p
Alright, if you do that you can definitely count me in.
I have bought GalCiv and GalCiv:AP individually, and none of the other games are interesting for me, so getting Drengin.net won't give me any additional benefits... unless I'm missing something. Even in the event a cool game is coming on in the next year or so (like a new master of magic or GalCiv2), I'm still better of buying that individually... or am I missing some grand scheme?
Now that was something to behold... I was about three turns from my tech victory when one of my best planets turned into a Dread Lords planet. Needless to say, I lowered tech spending to a minimum to take up the challenge. Not that they really stood a chance, even with the Excaliburs they started to build, as I controlled 80% of the large galaxy I played on (22 planets under my control, 4 Altarian and 1 Drath systems) and could crank out 1 Excalibur every 5 turns on max spending on my m
Errrrm... dare I ask what the Omega Pack is?
A 'something in between' wouldn't help him take a decision.
I disagree - a third option would make it easier to understand why the players don't like the name. In the simple Yes/No situation, if people say 'No', you don't know why and what you have to change. By adding at least one shade of no, you can pinpoint the problem a little better. Or, as you stated, change the system altogether :) [Edit: typos] [Message Edited]
I would have preferred a third option in the poll - I don't think drengin.net is an original name, and it's not confusing or complicated either. It is memorable, but not in the 'ah yes, that was something' way, rather in the 'yes, I remember' way. It's not confusing or complicated because it is simple. It's not really original either, as IMHO it feels rather nondescript. I think it just lacks the 'edge' a network like the drengin.net needs - in essence, it lacks punch.
I had a look last night, and found out how to change the the governor in the little screen :) It was hard to find - I searched through most of the game graphics, and noticed that there's a lot of unused and obsolete stuff in there, including the panel with the small governor screen (took me quite some time to figure that out). I'll pass on all the details... What I found out is that there's one little image with the face of the governor that is used everywhere, and the animate
PCX files, the DomGov_Governor01 143x140, 256 colours; the error_outofrange 250x180, 256 colours.
Correct, but that's the final size the game needs. To create the images, the bigger the source image the better. Anything under 500px (width or height) gets difficult - especially if the part that will be cut out to make the governor is not very big. It also depends on the overall quality of the image; if it's a jpeg with high compression, it has to be very big so t
How about when a ship gains an experience level you can decide where to apply the points.
That's a very interesting idea :) That would allow for specialized ships, e.g. defenders, attackers, couriers... that would add a new strategic dimension to the game.
#23: Do you mind if I post these at my Galciv website
Not at all - go ahead! Don't worry about my webspace, though - I've got my own server. Thanks all the same anyways ;)
forbid access to specific sectors
That would be cool. Makes me think of Civilization, with the "Get out of my territory or you'll get whacked" stuff, and footnotes saying "Our words are backed with terror stars" LOL
Godspeed, zecryan, for this most noble task you have undertaken. Were I of different lineage, I would gladly have enlisted my help in this interesting venture.
Isn't it already the case with text changing from green (deal accepted) to yellow (deal refused)?
Yes, that's true - but I would like not to have to open the little window in which you type the amount of bcs or influence points, and have to close it before you can see the effect on the deal. I'd like to have a slider to adjust the amount of bcs and see directly when the deal jumps from yellow to green, that would make it a lot less tedious to find the right amount...
