I think the most important difference between Dashboard and Konfab is being missed. The reason the Dashboard is better than Konfab is because the widgets are... webpages! All you need to know to make a widget for Dashboard is html. However, for Konfab, you need to know something more (it's some kind of customized xml if I recall correctly). Apple may have "ripped-off" the idea from Konfab (even though Apple came up with it first...

If you feel that people aren't "getting your meaning" I can only say that perhaps you need to work on your writing skills. I thought your article was pretty straight forward: "How can we call them barbarians when our guys have done X, Y, and Z." I simply don't equate X, Y, and Z acts to be anywhere near the same league as cutting the head off some poor guy whose only alleged crime was that he was an American. To use an analogy, your
Wow. Wow. You said: But my comment was, even with hindsight, right on target: You asked how we can call them barbarians and I gave a pretty good (I thought anyway) example of a barbaric act. Did you read my above post? Can't you see that wasn't the entirety of my question? You said: Simply put your view seems to be: If one doesn't agree with your views, it's only because they didn't read your whole post. Loo
I think of Brad as two seperate people (maybe he's a gemini.) One person is the creator and administrator of JU. He does an excellent job of this....generally doesnt interfere with people unless they get really out of line. I will be eternally grateful to him for this fantastic site. He and the team have put a lot of work into it and we get to use it for nothing. How good is that? The other Brad is the same as any other poster here and I be
That sounds like a diss, so I'll take it as such and respond in kind. Yay for misinterpreting my comments! I'm saying I would diss you if you were as immature as Brad. Remember, you said: Would you have raised such a fuss if I had come on your thread and left that comment instead of Brad? That is what I was referring to. As it is you didn't. I'm not saying that the points system is misrepresentative or that. I have no re
Oh, and the title of the article, and the question that you posed within it was : How can we call them barbarians? I think his statement answered that pretty plainly. Don't be like that. So it's now ok to respond to only the title w/o reading and comprehending the entire article? Had you read the entire article (including the subheading), you would have seen that I only was referring to McCain's statement of calling them barbarians and
Did you bother to read my entire article? Shouting wasn't the only issue.
First off, I'm not saying all Admins here are immature, but that there is at least one who is. I think it fair to at least call it to the attention of the other admins. Where I was brought up, people could always discuss things in a civilized manner, even if people were totally opposed to each other (I'm talking about at school... not at home). If I disagreed
Darius, you confuse me. Let me just say this. If you want to label me a troll, that's fine. I'm sorry, but the comment : Your just breathing everyone elses good air is about as close to trolling as you can get without using all caps. To compare what happend to the Iraqis prisioners to Berg is stupid. Sure the U.S. should be held to a higher standard. If a comparison is stupid, then why did McCain use the two
What's the point? They're all wrong. The fact that US soldiers are getting killed doesn't justify what went on in Abu Ghraib (I assume my use of the past tense is correct here). Likewise the torture in Abu Ghraib doesn't justify beheading someone. Why are these issues conflated? No-one is arguing, at least not on Joeuser, that the fact that the US has tortured prisoners is in some way a justification to kill Americans. I neve
If anyone has the authority to speak about treatment of POWs it's Senator McCain. Having been a Prisoner of War, he speaks with an authority that few others have--personally, I have utmost respect for him and his opinion. The point is this--the US is different from the terrorist because US soldiers abused prisoners and it has received the attention of every major public policy official since it became breaking news. There is no top member of al Qaed
THEY CUT THE HEAD OFF OF AN INNOCENT PERSON ON TELEVISION SLOWLY WHILE HE SCREAMED THE ENTIRE TIME, HELD UP THE HEAD TO THE CAMERA AND THEN DUMPED THE BODY BY THE ROAD. According to wikipedia : On the Internet, troll is a slang term for a person who posts messages without contributory content, simply intended to incite conflict. As I understand it, your question is why
In response the the recent video of the beheading of an American contractor: I found this quote from Senator John McCain: It also shows the stark difference between Americans and these barbarians. We have found instances of mistreatment of prisoners, we are addressing the issue completely. These people have no regard for humanity or common decency, a
Yeah, I just got sick thursday with a cold, and the best I can figure is get as much sleep as possible, and drink lots of water. At least, that's what I did, and I think I'm getting better already. Though, that could just be the medicine. I hope you get well soon.
I am sick a 2-3 times a year. The last couple of times I've been sick the symptoms have been the same: runny nose, fever, exhaustion; just a bad cold / flu. But there is a pattern, every single time I get sick, it has occurred directly after a period of time where I was depriving myself of sleep. Last spring, I went almost 2 weeks with less than 5 hours of sleep. It r
I was looking over a friend of mine's shoulder today at school, and I noticed this SAT preparation packet thingy. Naturally I was immediately shocked into reality: the SAT's are this Saturday, and I haven't done anything to prepare for them. I did take the pre-SAT, and that was somewhat easy (though my score wasn't too hot), but this time, it really counts. Is there a
"hehehehe....yeah. That would be nice. But, no, ads don't pay jack anymore. This isn't a simple site, either. There are 3 people who work on code, graphics, asp, database, etc. Then, you have the other people who admin it, test it, etc. It also requires a great deal of bandwidth and a hefty server. Ads don't even come close to even paying for one of those points." So the Admins of the site pay for it out of their own pockets? That's inc
I know exactly how you feel. I feel the same way about many of my friends, I just feel separated almost. However there is one really good friend I have that really understands me well, and that really serves to give me strength. It really stinks that you can't find such a person, but I truly wish you luck. :)
"I think that statement partly answers your question. He is annoying because he wants your attention, he wants you " who he looks up to " to notice him and be happy in his company." But I wish he would understand that he can get my attention by being loving and nice, not by whining and pounding the keyboard.
"I'm sure Safari is a wonderful browser, and I've heard from many people that it is. But some of us don't have the resources to buy a system that's priced about a thousand dollars more than it's worth. Plus, let's count the number of good games that are available for OS X." Well, it all depends on what you want. If you want a gaming box, let me the first to tell you not to get a Mac. If you are a c
"You lied about your age!" Ironically, my web browser doesn't work perfectly with the sign-up script, so it always thinks your under 18. It was amusing actually. At first I put my real birthdate in and it was like "You must be 18 or older," so I changed my birth year to 1955, and it still said "You must be 18 or older," so I was like "It's reading my mind!!" :D
Ironically, if you removed "Firefox" and replaced it with "Safari" you would have had a perfectly valid article. However, Safari being produced by Apple, it has a refinement and ease of use that Firefox (they can't even keep their name for more than a month) will likley never have. Too bad some of the best software is only made for Mac OS X ;)
It seems like almost everyone in America knows what "hola" "adios" and "amigo" mean. Not so sure about the UK, but I'm pretty sure that's so in the US.
Woa, that would be awesome if the monthly fees were not too high. While 256k isn't enough for active web browsing at home, it would be awesome to have that kind of bandwidth when you are away from home.
Yes, I agree with everyone. Consistency is vital for political image. Part of me thinks it would be better to take the unpopular choice and stick to it, then to pick the unpopular one and then give in (like he did).
