As a newby to the site, I have to say: I enjoy debate as long as it stays debate, but when it gets personal, it crosses the line.

As for the recruiting, I was recruited very heavily when I graduated from high school, which was prior to 9/11, and I live in a relatively upscale city, and I'm not poor. I was heavily recruited as well...although I was poor, being a National Merit Scholarship finalist obviously meant I had options bey

Your first question as Americans should be: is the media today the antagonist watchdog it should be? Were the hard questions asked before we went to war with Iraq about our motivations and interests that would have exposed the lack of WMD's, the "dotted line relationship between Saddam and Al Qaeda" and the lack of a plan by the

For now, Maroon 5 and Jet dharma...I have to say, I'm impressed on your selection of Jet. I have become a fan of theirs as they're the closest to "old school punk" as there is on the new music scene (diehard Clash and Ramones fan here).

It's even worse when you realize they don't want work at all. When I see a "will work for food" sign, if I have extra money, I manufacture work (if I have reservations about having the guy near my home I may offer to drive to a "you wash it" car wash and let him wash my car while I enjoy a nice cold one in the shade (and heck, if he does a good job, I'm not averse to giving him a nice cold one either...a good way to show that there are rewards for hone

Under $10,000 income……………………………Bush votes=18%………Gore votes=84% hmmmm...this leads me to think marvin's source is IPSOA (institute for pulling statistics out of one's arse), as I think it's pretty hard to get 102% of any voting category. As well, it's importa

Of course, because the consequences of not using restraint are immediate, though minor, because you can then be blacklisted from that blog and have your comment deleted. That is one reason; the reasons that I use the standard is, one, it's plain ol' good manners, two, because I truly value free speech,

As an adult with ADD, I get frustrated by the immediate suggestion of need for "treatment". ADD, unless coupled with other issues, is a different way of being wired. Often people with ADD have better problem solving and analytical thinking skills because they are not confined to the box of linear thinking. While some extreme cases of ADD may merit treatment, we are an overmedicated society. We want a pill for everything. This is a go

I think this is where the problems start, even though this is a net community I think there are still certain levels of respect that should be maintained, I think it's a great thing that we are not constrained and can speak our mind as we please, I think people take this to far though, they abuse this, and I don't think that's fa

Ummm, I hope we are not talking about basic dog food here now~are we? . Well, I have heard of poor little old ladies on Social Security having to eat cat food and such~so I guess the mentally ill homeless chowing down on Scobby snacks is maybe not as bad as it sounds! Actually, what's not an urban legen

ruh roh. Uh, you are new at this, aren't you? You just may have scored a "hit" with this one, I'd expect a lot of response here. I'm a-gonna keep my mouth shut on this one. If you want an honest take, you can email me at [email protected], although it may take me a couple days to respond.

For the record, none of the 14 yr old girls I know would be thinking in these terms..... Sadly, a few that I know and have known, would. I would lean towards the other possible explanation myself, though.

ashlee, Don't worry about it. Most of us had it pretty much figured out anyway. Keep writing. It is always refreshing to have new insight and ideas, and this may help you hone your skills for later. Don't worry about the judgement of others, just do what you do. God Bless, Gideon MacLeish

YIKES! I can only think of two possibilities: 1. They are insecure about their future and hoping for a baby to financially trap a guy into supporting them. 2. They are looking for love and acceptance, either from the baby or their boyfriends, and hoping the baby will provide that for them. I may be way off base here. Anyone have any other possibilities?

One common thing about the left I've noticed is that they try to change the subject when they get uncomfortable. Hence, rather than trying to argue whether it's a good thing or bad thing to transfer money from the economically most productive people to everyone else they try to say "Well, they're not transffering as much as the s

I started lenbert.joeuser.com for a number of reasons.I use to write VOLUMES in highschool and college, both prose and poetry I stopped writing about 20 years ago.Lately I have had an itch to get back into writting, not only from a journalistic standpoint, but also issues and ideas that I feel a need to get off my chest. </TR

One person went so far as to say that they didn't care if their arguement was totally correct, it was more important to "stir the pot" and make people think about it. We've seen this more and more as election time approaches, and the allegations have been made that on the internet it is more important for propaganda to be believe

But you miss the point that many (if not most) of the people here arguing agaist Moore are not doing so because they are Republicans or even support Republican party in some manner. Rather, they argue against Moore because they do not like his methods nor his hypocritical and condescending attitude towards Americans as a whole.</

I mean, you don't think we have the same sub-catagories of caucasian here? You don't think we have all the same flavors of "white" that Australia and Canada has? Another point to be made is, if that's your definition of diversity, a large nation such as Canada or Australia is automatically diverse, as v
