OK... Just loaded DX9 runtimes. So far so good. Window creation appears to be a bit faster actually. GDI + Engine still a bit sluggish, Custom Engine works like a dream. I'm running the dock on a PIII 750 with 256 MB ram and a ATI Rage Mobility AGP P/M video card with only 8MB of ram. Basically, it's an older Dell Latitude laptop. So far, no issues here. Single click and double click work fine. I have not had any issues with explorer.exe as stated above. Creating a restore point now so I can load the DX9 runtime. Time to break stuff... Cool I will report back if any issues with DX9.
