Dont know if somehow I'm missing this but it looks like there is no way to build a construction queue for your shipyards simniliar to your colony's social build queue. IE id like to tell some planets build defender, defender, constructor, transport, constructor in that order , and other planets a different list, instead of the build current ship until changed option

I guess you can call me a group #2 player with group #3 leanings. Social wastage never bothered me much, as its something that happens in real economies all the time- I'm not real stoked that its magically going to military production but so be it. But please, please, draw the line. I have to second citizen octavius vii post above . If I wanted a board game, I'd haul out one of my old S&T or Avalon Hill boxes. One of the whole p
Yeah, they take a lot of constructors, but then you can build those constructor fleets while your researching decent weapons/hulls, etc . Ive had no problem buffing some of my starbases up to fairly heavy attack defense ratios, good enough to hold off mid game enemy fleets long enough to get my own ships there to mop up.
Just my 2 cents: I have to agree about the current economic model being okay - I'm not interested in individual planetary sliders- way to micromanagement, IMHO- As far as unused capacity goes, while I see the argument that production should be what it says, In reality a nation's industrial capacity is not always maxed out, ie mosts plants don't run at full capacity 24/7 and part of that constraint is $ available.
I vote A I'd rather see thedevelopment team continue refining the AI and creating more content and depth of single player content. As it is, I already see lots of replayability in the game, but give me more
re ticket id RIO-556941 just deleted prefs.ini and can restart campaign from beginning again. Guess the prob may be something in there. I'll play with resolution and see if I can break it again
Just to chime in, I've reported the same problem - ticket id RIO-556941. I'm going to try resetting the prefs.ini, since the campaign game did work BEFORE I added CE content and messed with the video details.
Ran the beta patch and game ran much smoother and a bit longer ; still crashed, I've emailed smart exception files so you can determine if its part of the heat related problem. Maybe a crash every three hours is my PC's way of saying get up and do something besides GC2
For colony defense, research planetary defence, then build orbital fleet manager on each colony. THis will allow all ships in orbit up to your logistics ability to fleet defend your planet
Campaign game is now CTD'ing on map load. Tried restarting campaign, still happens. I'll submit bug report, basic details below: System Info Time: 2/23/2006, 18:11:17 DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Languages: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc. System Model: KT600-8237 BIOS: Phoenix - AwardB
Not really a problem , but I can't (probably for good reason) run game in windowed or fullscreen mode at any resolution higher than the current resolution of my desktop. I.E. I'd like to run game at say 1600x1200, but leave my desktop at 1152x864. DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519) Languages: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: VIA
Second most of above- been playing to much, despite minor probs, to post
actually - Ihave a similiar problem -updated to 81.006, game now consistently crashes on completion of Galaxy Setup Screen- Never archived prior builds, so I guess I'll have to wait until release day and hope final version resolves issue. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing in default location, cleaning registry- no go I'll submit to gc2bugs just for completeness sake.
Probably reported before, but - started new game in 4D, when i tried to upgrade a design I had created earlier in the game, CT'D . Last line in Debug.err : ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\Screens\ShipDesignScreen.cpp at line 2696.
So- problem is related to deleting design in save game file- I get why y'all need this , so you can load games sent to gc2bugs- maybe obsolete in shipyard screen should just remove a ship from the list if all exisitng copies are not decommisioned- since the process already asks us if we want to do so.
Dont know if anyone else has seen this but if I obsolete a custom ship model , but do not decommision any existing ships of that class, subsequent save games cause a CTD on loading. last line in debug.err is (for example): Debug Message: Can't find ship type MF-2 in definitions error is repeatable. Win2k SP4 beta 4B
