It doesn't seem like fun, but to some people it is. Sharing saves from civilization games is really popular. I think people doing it with Civ enjoy it because they can watch saved games and learn strategies from them.

A powerful military is a really good way to make up for lack of diplomacy. On maso / suicide games I have noticed that conquering planets and trading peace treaties to nearly dead opponents can keep you fully updated with the latest techs just the same as with an easier settings game.

I too want this to be disabled with an option. It leaves me so confused because when I am moving dozens of fleets around, sometimes it auto focuses to a new ship without me realizing it. Then I send the wrong fleet to the wrong place

Hey Frogboy I got the same problem with a game on the lastest release patch. If I apply this test patch, can I load the save game that is giving me the trouble or will it only work on new games?

About the color scheme. I also think I like the default wikipedia scheme better too. Black background with light text is really easy on the eyes, but when color backgrounds (like the red and blue and green) come into play it doesn't look very good to me. If it were all black with a continuous text color then I think it would be a lot better, and I think the best looking would be the wikipedia format. I posted in the technology discussion, get in there and help me out because I think that wou

How good is espionage for getting techs? One late game I played with it and was pumping about 300/turn into a race that was way ahead of me in tech, and I didn't get any new techs from that for about 15 turns after advanced espionage.

You will get a lot more money if you trade each tech for money 1 at a time. Especially if you have techs on the same branch like Laser IV and Laser V. If you sell IV and then V you get full price for both, but if you sell IV and V at the same time they only pay you for V. I only sell to minor civs, but I use it a lot for my strategy.

My machine: P4 3.8 Ghz w/ 3.00 GB RAM Running XP Pro Radeon 9800 Pro Driver version 8.221.0.0, Driver Date 1/24/2006 -If you try to use ship construction it doesn't work sometimes if you apply parts in a certain order. It doesnt let you save the ship, so you have to just scrap it. If you click back on the colony after that, the save window pops up asking if you want to save the ship you just tried to make. If you input a name i

When you mousedown on a slide bar (like the one used to increase % taxes spent on research), if your mouse goes above or below the actual bar while the mouse is still down, the slider stops moving. Normally this only happens if the mouse gets about 3 bar's width away from the slider, but in the game there is no room for your mouse to go above or below. Also, this might be a feature rather than a bug, but you can't scroll down+right on the m

In the game release history I saw: "And probably not until noon or so EST then either (subject to change, we may do midnight, we'll see). " referring to the release. This made me think FOR SURE that it would be out at midnight!! Thats like parents saying "We might get you that bike you wanted for your birthday." Then being like, "well, we said MIGHT, so you shouldn't be dissapointed that you didn't get it." I am going to cry myself to sleep (
