It seams silly that when a new colony starts they have build the state of the art Factory. In reality they probably don't have the material to make such factories on hand and would have to get it from the planet. To process this material they would need a factory. Wait they don't have a factory yet. Wouldn't make since that a colony would start a simple factory to produce the equipment and materials for a more advanced factory? I just thought about this last night. When we talk about waiting for a sound signal to reach you being unrealistic is a passive sensor system. Kind of like submarines. You can wait and listen to hear another sub but this does not always work especialy if the other sub is running silent, or cloaked. This is the passive system. But the problem is, the sound is going at the speed of sound in a near-vacuum. Good point i guess it would be a little late at that point, but precombat you would be much closer. So in the long range scans you would be screwed, but detecting a cruiser before it unloads a volley of missles would be nice. I guess this may not even work though

I am using a Dell D600 Latop with 1G of ram and the on-board video card. I am using third party drivers to tweak the card for most games I play since the on-board card is slow. The drivers I use allow me to display the available memory, and I have noticed as I play that it drops until the game becomes almost unplayable.
