Hi all, I've been away from the game for a while as I didn't like the way some of the updates changed the game. I'm trying the game again with the latest DLC as I like the Drath, but I've come against the same problem as before: Weapons, good ones especially, require resources. I used to like designing my own ships and putting lots of weapons on them. Now I'm really constricted and confused about weapons particularly in the start of the game when resources are scarce.
Achronous
I have to say that needing resources for weapons took me by surprise. Feels a bit more constrained. Not sure I like it, it might take getting used to, but I might grow to like it, let's see...
I'm digging the new UI.
## The upcoming expansion ## The big expansion people have been waiting for is about 75% done now. It will be handled as a DLC mainly because people threw a fit when we made the Ashes of the Singularity expansion a stand-alone and we don't want to go through that again. So we'll figure out some way to take what is, essentially, a new game and make it DLC. Broadly speaking: - Espionage - Interactive Inva
Can you post a screenshot so we can see how it is?
It would probably be helpful to submit your saved game and a ticket describing the problem.
I've been meaning to post this for a while but I've only just managed to... I play GalCivIII both on a laptop and on a more powerful desktop. Both are not the latest and greatest machines for gaming, but my desktop manages to play the game decently up to about large maps. On the laptop I can manage to play decently on small maps. On medium maps I get huge slowdowns. I can accept that to a point. I use low textures on the laptop and it helps. I unticked the particles option as well whi
Although the ship parts for Drath and Korx are going to be awesome, I'm disappointed we won't be able to play them as major civs in sandbox... I hope you will reconsider. Also excited about the new campaign!
You should go back to the Gover tab and check the % manufacturing below the large wheel. Sometimes it gets stuck on 0% after you have negative treasury and doesn't revert to the previous setting. I don't know why and it's been bugging me for a while.
Gah, I'd love the Drath. I'll go look. EDIT: [e digicons]^_^[/e]

Just wanted to pipe in and say the starbase patch made building starbases fun again. For the first time I have fully built starbases. Before I could never be bothered to fully built them up as it was such a drag. Thank you and keep it up :)
That's great. I'll need to find some time to test these out :P
Being on the edge always means I'm weaker because I have fewer/less powerful planets. The middle usually offers more juicy ones. Both can have their challenges so I don't mind. :P
I don't think GalCiv3 is optimised for DirectX12 anyway? so it wouldn't make much difference.
I also had the same question during the beta. I was going it would replace the hospital and its upgrade line, with stronger bonuses...
they do not have it yet. Known issue I think
If you start the game when online and then disable it, does it do what you want? I noticed that a button briefly shows up sometimes and then disappears. It looks like it's doing a check of your assets, if DLCs installed etc.
I didn't see a comment on it, but I am highly curious as to whether Admirals / commanders etc are still on the table, and if there is any kind of (even extremely rough) timeline estimate on them, if they are coming? I really miss leveling up my ships, and feel the idea of admirals leveling up instead is quite excellent. Hope its still in the works!
Mercenaries is somewhat similar! You hire the
Congrats! Looking forward to more positive reviews!
IMO dead planets are essential. In Civ games you can't colonise water, mountains etc. Also not all positions are suitable for city founding. This is it in this game.
They are indeed the mercenaries. They sort of act like heroes as they give 'special abilities' to your fleet, or at the very least they have them themselves. Heroes has a more epic ring to it, but mercenaries a slightly more sinister tone. I like them anyway ;P
free FEATURE based updates aren't creating enough good will to counter the feeling that the DLC does't provide enough
I think for the vast majority they do. That's what keeps people coming back to stardock and becoming founders. People are always going to complain about things, about getting more. I think feature updates are great, they keep you interested until the next DLC/expansion. Anyway, I understand th
Or you can have it so that to build another starbase you need another starbase already in its area of effect. So the first one needs a planet, then you can daisychain them one after the other. Sounds interesting but then it might add to some frustration and maintainance costs when you only want that elerium near a nebula!
Although you have the right to do this change you mentioned Frogboy, I hope you are not serious. The reason many of us buy Stardock products is the implied continued work and addition of features. It's why you shell up large amount of money up-front to support the game. Without even seeing it. If you remove this reason all you will do is tarnish your reputation. If you drop to other companies level you will lose your differentiator. reviews are all well and good, but it is your ma
