Hey, how did we get this far in without a link to the actual project instead of the wikipedia link. [link="http://spring.clan-sy.com"]Spring Homepage[/link] [link="http://spring.clan-sy.com/download.php"]Download Page[/link] The name is officially just [B]Spring[/B] now because a number of non-TA-based projects have cropped up. The official installer now will download a number of the available games and maps automatically so it's easier then ever to get started. <
On the subject of Total Annihilation still having an active modding community, check out Spring ( http://taspring.clan-sy.com ) an open-source/free game that starts where TA left off, fully 3D, plenty of of active mappers and mods... and while you only get a hundred or so people online at a given time, that's usually enough for a good game. <img src="http://ta
So I was playing and had 20,000 odd BC and bought a bunch of star base upgrades... and suddenly I notice my warchest is basically infinitely empty... making 3500 a turn... by the time I'm going to be able to do anything but be a sitting duck the computer will have won a tech vidctory... anyone else have this super-negative balance issue? there's nothing in the game expensive enough to naturally put me in the hole that far.
Having a story generated from my gameplay would encourage me to give better names to my planets and ships and encourage me to make sure specific ships survived etc. Would be good if it could keep track of upgraded ships as if they are the same ship. Narrowly beating another survery ship or colony ship or transport or constructor unit to a target or being narrowly beaten would be great. Basically monitor orders that need to be cancelled because something changed.
