LOL! I think I've set myself into a rhythem that i'm comfy with as far as the way I play to change it up too much. It is rather difficult to teach this old dog new tricks! I have to agree with you on the scoring of difficulty levels. Compairing our games, I was shocked to see that there was little difference in the scores from tough-suicdal. While I seem to be holding my own on crippling, I'm almost thinking of dropping back down to tough. Like you said, it isn't a mico management intense.

Doh! I'm such an idiot sometimes! Seems I screwed up when I created my account with my host and put a "s" on the end of my domain...one would think I should know my own domain but... I sent off an email to my host to get it changed, but I don't know when that will be. I noticed we are sneaking up on 9th place and should be there soon. I started a new huge game but I won't finish it tonight tho. I think I may post medium games during the week since I only have a few hours a night

Well, the site still has not resolved. Just my luck! I finished my huge game finially and posted a good score for the group (as well as myself). Hopefully I'll be able to give TBAY a run for his money before long Guess I'll fire up photoshop and see what I can come up with as far as a site is concerned although I hate not being able to see it online! It seems earthlink (my isp) isn't very fast at pick

Yeah, I'm still getting DNS errors too. Its been over 48 hours, so I'll try tomorrow to see what may be causing it. I have to admit that I didn't work on the page any today as I got into a huge map and played until just a minute ago. I'm having to use toothpicks to hold my eyes open just to post this. Hopefully I can get the game finished fairly quickly in the morning since I'm down to 1 AI, and he trapped in a corner. Take care all.

According to my host, the above link should work. Either it doesn't or my ISP has not resovled the domain yet but either way it isn't working for me. If it is my ISP, I have to say this is the longest I've ever seen it take. Could one of you let me know if the link works (it should take you to a temp page) so I'll know which group I'm going to have to raise hell with. Thanks.

Howdy all! Just wanted to let eveyone know that I've got my hosting set up and now I'm just waiting on the nameservers to resolve. When they do resolve, I've put a temp page up for the orcas. Since I've wasted this much time finding a host, I'm going to go ahead an get a game started and will probably wait for the weekend to actually work on the site. I haven't made up my mind on if I want it to be on a subdomain but for now it will be on the root domain of <a href="http://portalso

I think you hit something there on the scoring. I always play with tech trading off but my higher scoring games tend to be those where I've lucked into finding 2 or more tech resources to mine. I ususally play with fast tech and with the multi resources I was learing a lot of techs in one turn. I'll also run few games by with tech trading on to see what it does for the scoring. I have started turning off all victory types so that the only way to win is by conquest. By doing this

Thanks! I stepped up to painful tonight, but my score was less than a win on tough...man this scoring system... I managed to break the 50th mark with my win yesterday! Now if I can just keep my ranking going down. I am sure interested in seeing your tips for playing on higher difficulties. If you haven't already done it, I'd like to volunteer to put together (or help with) a webpage for the empire. I'll admit that i've been out of the practice of making pages, but this will give

i would reinstall except iv got a bunch of mod data i dont want to lose. just copy everything and put it in a new folder outside the game folder, then reinstall the game. Afterwards move the contents of your new folder minus the .exe file and it should work. Before doing that, check to make sure that Stardock Central has the "show beta" or s

I think I know what he's talking about with upgrading a ship design, but still having to manually assign its construction. When you go to update a design, and you "clear" it in the ship designer, the game behaves as though you're creating a totally new design, and thus doesn't switch your spaceports to the new design after you obselete the old one. I figured that ou

Norad, what version of the game are you using? Have you updated to version 1.11? I'm using v1.2b2 It did it again on a game I was playing last night. I have a constructor that I made but named over something in a new game (since I cant see what I already have named and I get tired of guessing or adding mk # till I find one I've n

Don't use the same name for an upgraded design, is all I can say. By over-writing the actual file containing the design for a previous version, you're confusing the poor computer It shouldn't confuse anything. It should completely over write the file when saving. When you rename the ship to save, it does not give you the option of upgrading

I forgot to mention that although that one time it completly switched designs, it does have a habbit of leaving old componets from previous builds on as well. The complete switch in hull designs really annoyed me though. When it has the extra componets, although they do not add to the "cost" of a ship, they cause the actual componets to be invisible just leaving the jewelry.

I'm not sure if this falls within the class of a bug or just something that is plain annoying but when a ship is upgraded there are times when it sometimes retains information from previous upgrades. I had a ship that I used a completely different design than I did in a previous game. After about the 5th upgrade on this new ship, when i went in to upgrade it again it had switched back to the previous design. I do make a blank "prototype" hull but after I upgrade it (and rename it), i obsolete

Copy the ForeignTreatiesWnd.dxpack file to your "GalCiv2\Mods\Screens" Not sure If I'm just missing something, but the zip does not contain this file. It has the 12races.jpg, Dread Lords.sc2, and the install.txt file. So, am I missing something?

I'm afraid I have to second Norad's bug. I used "upgrade all" to upgrade a bunch of ships and it only charged me for one. I investigated a little further, and no matter if i upgraded 49 ships or 4 ships, it still only charged me for one. I have the save game and everything if the stardock people need it. I had just played another game (until I

To describe it as free was a little drastic. It is more like extremely cheap. After getting back into the game, I did a small upgrade on 33 ships that should have cost 8k but was actually more like 50 or so. Then after a few more techs, I upgraded 44 ships that should have cost 21k (I had 11K in bank) and cost just a little over 100bc. Is anyone else seeing this? BTW, it is a metaverse game, no mods, v1.2 b2.

I have not tested it more than once as I just came out of game to post this but I'd have to say that the Upgrade All is definately cheaper now....as in FREE. I just did an upgrade all on 27 ships which should have cost +/- 12000. Which what I had in the "bank" I would have been at a -100 or so but after hitting the turn button a few times, I never lost bc's. While free upgrades are nice, I'm pretty sure it isn't meant to be that way <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Gasp.

Included are a single offset which simply replaces a hardpoint with one floating a ways away; you can use the scale and rotate controls to put that new hardpoint pretty much anywhere you like! There is also a dual offset, which places two floating hardpoints on opposite sides of the hardpoint you place them on. And lastly, there are variants ranging from 3 to 8 hardpoints,

You can, just not in-game. The model definition and components list are stored separately for each design, so you can manually edit the .shipconfig file to have multiples, while only having one in the .xml definition for that ship design. I suppose if someone could make an out-of-game ship editor, my mod would be less neccessary. Then you could easily build the desi

It is due to the lack of being able to use Mods in the metaverse that my ships in those games are nothing more than hull + functional items. I dont know which ships look worse, mine or the AI's. In my offline games the functional items are usually hidden so I can use the "fake" stuff to make it look however I want it. There are times when I find myself doing nothing more than building blank ships with no functional items so I can upgrade them as needed. While I can understand the hulls are po
