I just purchased the (downloaded) Dark Avatar expansion and I noticed that there are no background stars. There is still a nebula. And background stars still show up in the original Dread Lords chapter. I have looked at the video settings and I can find no settings that would make them disappear. I turned up the Background Star Density setting, but it did nothing. Is there some setting that I am missing? I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Dark Avatar, to no avail. <b

I usually start out militarily weak, while investing heavily in research which increases my research and infrastructure capabilities. Later, I trade techs with other civs to obtain military capabilities. In mid game, I invest more in military research and build up my military for defense while building influence starbases and making alliances. In the mid to end game, I will take out smaller, weaker races. When I do win a game, however, it is through diplomatic or cu
in the mean time, i'd be more than interested to hear if anyone else has sucessfully replaced their PSU with one from another manufacturer, and the results of the operation
Over a year ago, I had the blinking amber power light after I tried to install a GPU on my Dell Dimension 2400. I replaced the old Dell PSU with Power PC & Cooling 425 Watt PSU (made for Dell) and it works beautfully. I have never had any problems since. It cost $150, but it was better than buying a wh
I have had exactly the same issue with GalCiv II. ialmrnt5 is the driver for your Intel Extreme Integrated Graphics. To resolve the issue, I changed the following graphics settings: (a) Turned on the Hardware Mouse Cursor (b) Disabled Hardware Transform and Lighting (c) Disabled Point Sprites I have never had the problem since. However, with the Intel Integrated Graphics, the performance of the game suffers, and there are graphics glitches. Dark Avatar is m
Unfortunately, I only have PCI slots on my computer, which is why I am considering the 9250. Currently, I am using onboard Intel Extreme Graphics 2, w/ a max of 64 MB shared memory. Therefore, I figured this would be an "upgrade." I would much rather have a PCI-Express card, but, alas, I don't. Perhaps I should rephrase the question... Would this be an upgrade for me? Thanks for the inputr. I do appreciate it.
I am currently considering purchasing an ATI Radeon 9250 256MB card. The box says it is "compatible" with DirectX 9 games. Does this mean that it will work with Galactic Civilizations II?
I got a video driver crash for an onboard video card (Intel Extreme Graphics 2 - chipset 82845G). I am updated to the latest video drivers for the card. Intel is no longer providing drivers (the last update was in June of 2005). The onboard graphics are Direct X 9.0c compatible. Is there any way that Stardock could provide some kind of fix for what is causing the crash? Or is there a setting I could change in the video options to minimize the possibility of such a crash?
