Sorry, did mean TOA, I should have been more specific. I assumed that whoever was still around the boards after all this time had also upgraded to DA and then to TOA. Maybe I'll fire up DA again sometime soon and see if it runs more smoothly.

I've run into some of the same problems. It's a huge shame, because GalCiv II is an awesome game that feels like it was never really finished. For a while, the dev team did an admirable job of post-release support, but unfortunately the patches stopped before some of the nastier bugs were taken care of (late-game memory issues, races randomly deciding not to expand, broken diplomacy, etc). I still can't wait for GalCiv III though. Hopefully when t
awesome, thank you. where else can a forum posting lead to direct resolution of an in-game issue by a developer? stardock just continues to impress.
sorry if this has already been gone over, but in 2.0 it seems like the AI still isn't expanding properly on "bright" and "intelligent" difficulty levels. the Yor are the worst offenders, and I generally see at least a few of their planets with shipyards full of unlaunched colony ships. the arceans also take the turtling strategy to the point of being non-competitive in every game, they simply cannot compete against other races with 5-7 planets. the Drengin and the Korath are also not
IMO, the espionage system is pretty close to where it needs to be in its 2.0 incarnation. Once the bugs are ironed out and the costs are balanced a little more, I'll be perfectly content with it. It's nice to have as a feature, and while I agree the new system is not a drastic departure from the old one, it isn't a major facet of the game and I don't feel it has to be. Maybe GalCivIII can benefit from a new, expanded system with more options, but as far as TA goes I think it's fine.
I don't know if this is new to 1.99c because I had never tried it before, but using the mouse scroll wheel on the pop-out galaxy map (the one you get pressing the button next to the zoom in/out buttons) causes a C++ Runtime Error and a crash to desktop.
Running smoothly so far, a few quick notes- -Yor/Korath (and possibly a few other races I havent met yet) still aren't launching their colony ships on "genius" difficulty, the Yor don't launch any at all and the Korath launch a few but still have 4/5 colony ships in each shipyard. -I made first contact with the Drath and they immediately offered to trade me a technology I already had. I pressed reject and the game continued normally.
[quote who="Sou1Ca1iber" reply="19" id="1889888"]Update: I uninstalled ToA and restarted my comp. I am now reinstalling ToA and it says in impulse that the beta 1.99[rc].016 is available. Good news.... kinda. Interesting note: my GC2 launcher doesnt work anymore, I am hoping that it will once I get ToA installed again. EDIT: For those of you that uninstalled and don't see the beta, just start installing the version you see... thats what I did
Uninstalled TA, restarted impulse, and the only version of TA available is still 1.96.027. Show pre-release versions is on. Any ideas?
Wow, thank you for the quick response. I've still been using SDC out of habit but I guess it might be time to switch over to Impulse for good, it looks like it's been cleaned up quite a bit since the first time I installed it.
I asked this in one of the existing beta threads, and I'm fairly sure its coming out today on Impulse (I'm under the impression that stardock usually puts out updates at ~6 pm EDT, but you never know) and some point later on SDC.
Can anyone in the know give an estimated time the beta might hit SDC? Sorry to sound impatient, im just curious if it looks like we'll be seeing the beta in the next few hours, or not until the evening.
Beta starts Wednesday...the 26th? Did you mean Wednesday the 24th? (I'm going to assume this unless proven otherwise)
I love you stardock...I really do. The only problem with updates like this is now I can't play GC2 until 2.0 is released or else it just feels incomplete. But with all the awesome stuff in store, I think I can handle the wait.
thats great to hear, thanks for the quick response!
I'm still having issues in the editor with star names I've given disappearing after I name more than a dozen or so...is this a problem other people are having?
Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum for this post, but from the list it looked like the best fit. I've run into a bit of a problem pre-ordering twilight of the arnor from the stardock online store, I can get through the ordering process with no problems until the very end, when after I submit the order, I'm greeted with the message: "Your order has failed to process because characters are typed onto the webstore order form were not recognized from the Roman alphabet.
