In fact the graphics remind me of 'Dragons Lair' and Dirk the Daring, which is not a compliment for a game being made 25 years later. (Look it up...)
This is a bit off topic, but I can't help but think Torynn doesn't know his audience here. I'd bet that just about everyone on this forum knows what Dragon's Lair is.

I think they'd have to hire a bazillion new employees and find some way to cover the overhead of all the servers. Stardock have limited MP experience, so I don't know how well an MMO would go . . . especially one that "failed". I thought a Korean company was taking over . . . ?
Zoomba, it's me Dark-Star! Good review, btw. I own an ASUS Radeon HD 4870 (512MB version) and I LOVE IT. Best card I've ever owned and it was well worth it. I play GRID a lot and the game runs all details on, 1920x1200 full 8xFSAA @ 80+fps. Most of my games I'm able to run at full details at 1920x1200. Only Crysis slow down at full detail, but if I take the detail level to HIGH the game is back to 60+ fps. Here are my s

I've heard nothing about a beta.
I believe they're already doing the beta, but you had to sign up for it months ago. It's not a public beta in the sense a preorder gets you in. And the game was pushed back a bazillion times to Q1 2009, as Nels said. Here's to hoping it doesn't get pushed
Isn't that in the battle view however, also, don't get me wrong I love the way the game looks, and I am sure the high end FPS is not quite what they ment, but how close do you think we can now zoom, smothly, from the cloth map?
Ooooooooohh, gotcha. No clue, but I would assume pretty close. At the very least something comparable to GalCiv and Sins, so pretty much all the way down. Perhaps we need to wait for some gameplay
Nice video, though it's scary when the devs framerate is so bad, but damned if that game doesn't look amazing.
Yeah, but Elemental will require online activation, and likely through Impulse, which, currently, is a piece of software I would rather not talk about in order to remain polite. They both need copy protection, period.
I thought Stardock games only need activation for updates.
About the AI: Brad has coded a great ai in Galciv. However, if you look at what you can actually do in Galciv, you'll realise your tactical options are zero: Number of ships ans strength, which is wuite weak. Even in GC2 the rock-paper-scissors system is simplistic and laughable compared to Dom3's richness. . . . If Elemental offers a wide choice of spells, it's very likely that it will fail to make good use fo them on the tactical battlefield.
Again, I will preface by

Well, the way the game looks isn't final yet. There is some more tightening up that they'll do, but I seriously doubt a Stardock game will ever look like a high-end fps (not a knock on Stardock).
Ooooh, finally an update on their site. It had been a while. I'll watch this when I get home. Can't wait.

This was a fascintating argument between yall. I would love to chime in, but I haven't really played too much D3. I must say that some of the artwork in D3 is decent, but the sprites used for battles are simply atrocius. As you aren't forced to watch the battles that's fine, but for $50 I would expect just a little more effort on the graphical front.
-Elemental will almost certainly start out with the same kind of dismal AI as D3. I
You guys are doing a great job with the limited amount of artwork out for the game.
I've never heard of Dominions 3, but it looks interesting to me. I'm not too happy about the $50 price tag two years after it was released, but I'm gonna try out the demo.

Anyone making banners yet? I don't "need" an avatar, but I wouldn't mind throwing a banner on some forum accounts I have.
Looking good.
I'd more or less have to agree. The multiplayer has only been a huge deal because of its popularity over Live, while its multi on the pc is a pretty bland experience. I'm not a Halo hater, but I could care less about playing Halo 3. I beat Halo 2 at a friends house and wasn't interested in 3 just to find out what happened in the story. The game never grabbed me.
I think I'd have to say V. I prefer III, but I come back to V more often because III gets entirely too repetitive to me. To be honest I think King's Bounty is a much better option. The game is simply fun . . . and new, so it'll look pretty. ;) Or pick up Disciples II. Or. Or. Or.
The AI in GalCiv seems quite capable of handling user created techs in mods. There, each tech has hidden values (that influence how strongly an AI favour this tech, wants to trade it...) and the rest is analysed at runtime, if I'm not mistaken.
I'd have to agree. The integration of mods in GalCiv, since the mods are created within the scope and coding of the game itself, works pretty flawlessly. Since a key point of this game is the user generated content I woul
You can say teaser again. ;)
So, we have a soldier building option akin to the ship building options in GalCiv. Awesome. The beta can't get here soon enough.
