The basic macro things related to seasons shouldn't be too hard to implement. It wouldn't be very hard to put status effects on characters and regions based on the seasons, though individual storms and the like may be a too specific to be balanced properly.

I really want terrain to play a role. Not just a log blocking a pathway, but height playing a role. I actually prefer Disciples format of using single units over the spamalot battles in HoMM, so here's my hoping for that. Personally I wouldn't mind if it were hex or square based, they both have positive and negative aspects imho. Other than tweaking your recommendations a litte, Mentora, I'm pretty much in line with your thinking.

Ye merry springtyme cannot thus come sooneth. Wow, that was terrible. I'm stoked for this game. Can't wait to get my hands on the beta.

If the mod tools are anything comparable to what Ironclad supplied with Sins of a Solar Empire without much effort you could tailor Elemental to your choosing . . . and then we could all play it. Basically, you don't need coding skills, just some effort to learn the tools and be creative.

"But if the Gamer's Bill of Rights is to transcend publicity-stunt status and become a catalyst for real change, it needs to be the starting point for a tough conversation about which rights PC gamers should really expect to enjoy - and which, as the result of enjoying the freedoms of an essentially open platform, they may need to give up." Isn't this exactly what it is? Something that is attempting to open up discussion?

Well, they turned it on, but haven't smashed anything yet, so the black hole isn't really possible until next month when the "real" stuff starts. Not that I think anything will happen, but there's still a reason to be scared. And don't forget 2012 is right down the road. There are plenty of apocalyptic scenarios you have no control over. So relax. :P

Sounds like some compelling aspects were added to the game. It's too bad because I have no time (and little interest) in mmo's.
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/medievaliitotalwarkingdoms/downloads.html?tag=downloads
I know this is stupid, but after installing the patches you need to manually delete two files. I can't remember what they are as I haven't played in forever, but any forum related to Total War will tell you in a faq. Here, I found it: data\descr_geography_new.txt data\descr_geography_new.db And here are the patches: http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x/

The first one was fun. This has been in development for so long that any enthusiasm I had is long gone. I'm looking forward to Fallout 3, though I hope it isn't like Oblivion where the game only got good with mods. Hell, I'm looking forward to GTAIV for the pc. High res graphics. Nice.

Congrats! No worries about not posting when you said you would. It isn't the end of the world or anything. :P And no, I don't play chess online. I am terrible at chess when I don't have the board in front of me. I just don't see the pieces all that well.

I'm not too sure what to say here. I enjoy having a blog as I've had different forms of them since 2002. I mostly use it as a journal for friends and family as I moved 1500 miles away back in 2002. It is a nice alternative to setting up your own website, though I have one of those now. lol

Good man. Lol. We still need to know the specs on your power supply. The new cards like to use energy.

26 Replies 106,213 Views

^^Agreed. The 4850 is probably the best price/performance ratio (after the 4870), but the 8800gt's have dropped down in price since the latest series of cards were released. You can get them (after a mail in rebate) for $130. The Radeon HD 4850's are about $50 more. Whatever you do, don't go to a store like BestBuy and buy a video card from them. They're waaaaaay overpriced. [link="http://www.newegg.com/"]NewEgg[/link] is the way to go. And anything you buy will be out

Ah, more goodness. Keep it up. How long have you been playing this particular game? A month and a half?

Well, over at TweakGuides, Koresh has a couple of settings you can change in the Bioshock.ini file for mouse lag issues. It never hurts to read the entire guide (you can find it [link="http://www.tweakguides.com/Bioshock_1.html"]here[/link]), but page 7 is where he has a couple tweaks for your specific problem. Koresh does recommend turning v-sync off in the in-game settings. You should try that first. Of the recommended changes, this one seems the most pertinent. And I quote:<

Yeah, as has been said, your video card is pretty old. Plus you said "258 mb ATI x/1300 x/1550 card (current drivers)". The 1300 is an entirely different card from a 1555, so that's a little confusing, but it doesn't matter. As far as the PSU you will need to actually look at it. On the side is a chart that shows the total watts of the psu along with the amps for each rail (I'll explain that in a moment). It'll look something like this: [img]http://c1.neweggimages.com

1) Troll the forums. There are tons of posts and the tips for beginners are so numerous you might be better off asking specific questions about economy or warfare. 2) I think DA is an absolute must to play GalCivII. They fixed (and added) so many things. I can't ever see myself going back to before TA, but I don't see it as a necessity if $$ is an issue. 3) Meaning you want the ai to choose the research for you? Or do you want to start with everything already researched? Either
However, from Stardock's financial viewpoint, a Gal Civ III might (probably) have much higher sales potential than the fantasy TBS or an RPG.
Which is why they shouldn't do GalCiv III right away (well, and I don't think they need to) in that they can always come back to it later if in a bind financially. I'm all for a good turn based Strategy game. HoMM is getting old . . . Fantasy Wars (with craptastic title and all) is looking like it might fill a void for the
