What is the best way to assign targets in a battle? I usually get all my ships to kill each enemy ship one at a time, going from heavy assault->long range->basic assault->carriers->capitals->everything else. I figure it's best to balance killing their highest dps with the time it takes to kill each ship, reducing their attack power as fast as possible. Thanks.

Is there an updated chart out there? Are the advantages/disadvantages generally the same still?
My friends and I just got Entrenchment but after the first game we decided to rule out Starbases for future games. Here are the reasons we had, please tell me what your opinions are: -they are retardedly overpowered, you need a whole fleet to kill one and in the process you'll lose most of your fleet -you can build them in enemy systems easily, for example I sent 1 to my opponent's homeworld and the 2 neighboring systems and he had to retreat to deal with them
Step 1: Spam units and attack the AI Step 2: When they retreat instantly like they always do siege their planet and colonize. Step 3: Repeat step 1 and 2. Whoever makes the AI for this game must either really suck at the game or never play it at all. If it gets tested at all before release the people who test it must suck too or they would have said something and it wouldn't have been released this way.
But we also know that the vast VAST majority of users are not experiencing problems. That doesn't mean we think ICO is perfect. Each update will make it better and better. But it's not fair to say that ICO is "broken" as a generalization simply because you're having problems with it.
Do you actually collect statistics from ICO about how many games fail or how many people get connection problems, etc. or are you just basing your opinion on the support emails you get? <br/
Lol I've
I honestly hope, for your sake and mine, that you don't believe ICO is working properly Yarien.I have never had such a headache trying to host games. I recommended this game to a bunch of friends of mine (hopefully not a mistake, we'll see), and not a single one of them has been able to decipher how to simply host a game.I have successfully hosted games in Warcraft 3, Dawn of War, company of heros, star wars empire at war, rome/medieval total war, and starcraft. NONE of them have
Just get some friends together and use Hamachi ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi ). It emulates a LAN network. Get everyone connected to your Hamachi server and host a non-Ironclad online multiplayer game. The people connecting will have to use your Hamachi IP (not your normal one) which is listed by your name in the Hamachi window. Never had any problems with it, nor did anyone connecting. It's way more reliable than the matchmaking service. The only reason I see not to use it is if you do
Why even make hangars? Bombers are only good against heavy cruisers or capships and if your enemy is attacking with those chances are it's a fleet. It's not possible to make enough hangars to get enough bombers to even dent a decent heavy cruiser fleet. Most times the enemy can probably just ignore your bombers. That's all assuming they use heavy crusiers. If they spam light frigates hangars are absolutely useless. Turrets are pretty useless too. Unless you make dozens your planet will
You guys should upgrade to XP.
When I play team games with multiple systems at least one person starts in a different system than the majority of the team. So they are isolated and don't really have a chance. Is there any way to make everyone on a team start in the same system?
I think heavy cruiser spam (enforcers, kodiak, etc) and kol battleships beat anything and they are the only kind of attack ships you need in a fleet. This is the case in all the games I've played so far. Anything else just dies vs heavy cruiser spam. Can anyone give a situation where they beat it with another kind of ship?
I'm interested in Game Development and was wondering if any of the Sins developers went to a College and took Game Design, a University and took Computer Science, taught themselves, or did something else to get to the level of skill that they needed to become developers for Sins? Thanks, FordPrefectA
I would like to see more tactical controls for fleets. This includes: -Attack area (drag a box over an area to designate what enemies you want your units to attack. -Set facing (let you turn your fleets without moving them) -Patrol (set a path where your ships would automatically stop and attack anything within range) Anything like this would be great. I think out of all RTS games, Total Annihilation (and TA Spring) has the best tactical controls, so it would be a
NP that Ron guy did it too even after I posted that you did it. :P Point is it's not very clear that they exist IMHO. I wouldn't even know if I hadn't googled sins of a solar empire strategy and came up with the strategy forum. It took me awhile to find that little arrow; before I found it I had thought I was viewing an old forum no longer linked to on the site. Maybe the index should show all of the subforums?
Go to my post and finish reading it. ;p
The forum index only shows 5/10 forum sections under Sins of a Solar Empire. The only way you know the hidden ones exist is if you stumble onto the little arrow in the top right.
Don't get me wrong I love this game and will keep playing it but how did such obvious get through beta testing? Because there's nothing obviously wrong with it? Why shouldn't ships be able to fly past your static defenses, if you built them far enough from your planet that siege ships can get through and then be out of range and merrily attacking the planet?
I meant if they wanted to they coul
Good post Dragoon, but the back ranks aren't much safer than the front ranks, you can come in from the front and you won't be blocked from moving in to fire at their support ships.
Lol, after playing a few games vs the computer I see that this tactic of just 'bypassing the line' applies to defense turrets and even entire systems. If I make a fortified front line world thinking that it will stop enemies getting to my main worlds they just fly right through. If they'r
Is it possible to use formations other than the default? Do you get bonuses for flanking enemy ships? Do fleet tactics matter at all in this game? So far it seems like you just face off your line of ships vs the enemy's and whoever has more firepower/HP wins.
