Very true, they do not collect personal info with the activation. I can understand where MS is coming from with the product activation feature in WinXP. What they're trying to do is protect themselves against "casual copying" (ie: I lend my new windows CD out to my grandma to install on her box). It's true that it's userbase is primarily Linux users and they tend to look down upon companies like Microsoft, but /. itself is just a tech news site. Heh, 1600 x 1200 on a 19" is perfectly normal. It just takes some getting used to but provided you have a decent monitor and soundcard it's great. I personally run at 1600 x 1200 on a 15" LCD (laptop) and it looks great. Everything is really crisp and readable. For print design (working with images of ridiculous resolution) 1600 x 1200 is a must.
