Hopefully my last posting on this issue. I respect others options on this thread, but what I can't understand are the people who are negative towards people who disagree with activation. I have also seen more on this forum compared to others of people being more closed minded of other's feelings then other forums. If I posted this thread on Daz's forums, which I have, I would get people calmly replying to it for the most part. I always seem to but heads here. People are always no strong

Daz got back to me... I am glad at least one company agrees with a consumer's view. Wait until you need to install or reinstall your software and have no internet connection or phone line. (I have) and then want to use you software. Plus what happens if the original company goes out of business or sells the software off. This have happen many times. What happens to the activation not supported by the new owners of the software? I personally have gotten $100s of dollars of items (software and models) from Daz. Fordson... I agree. I use to buy alot of Stardock software. But since activation I haven't. I don't agree with making legal users have to do more steps, no matter how simple, if you legally paid for the product. Another reason I am still using GoLive CS and Photoshop 7.01. These were the last versions without activation. So basicly Adobe shot themselves in the foot when it came to sales from me. (And my guess others.)

Hi all, Well, Stardock has done it to us. Another company that is making us use the Internet to activate our legal software. Brad, Thanks to the reply. I am sorry if I sounded to hard, but it still sounds a little unfair for the rest of us developers trying to get the most out of Desktop for products. Also, I am a little afraid to develop serious apps using DesktopX since Stardock could come back and then require me to pay more if the apps is sucessful and I need an upgrade. I think when it comes down to it, is Stardock a customization developer's tool creator or a company that uses developer tools to create end-user solutions for non-developers? I think there is an other example of a company watering down a product to help it not to compete with it's other markets. Apple is the other big company that has done this. Hi, I downloaded the Widget "OMNI analogue" from desktopgadgets.com at Link and noticed that the Widget overrides the default About Box for Desktop's Gadgets. Hi all, I have been reading a "heated" discussion about activation system (mainly the one built into Konfabulator 2.0) and was curious what people hear thought about it.
