I suggest you upgrade your computer with a good UPS, like an APC. It protects over and under voltage situations. NewEgg APC

I feel that surface vessels are sitting ducks. Whereas, an Ohio class SSBN is far more the ultimate weapon and feared to a greater extent as its location cannot be simply identified by radar.
Although this might sound a bit strange, one of the reasons I really enjoyed watching Babylon 5 was the inclusion of inertia. However, there's no sound in space so that was a bummer.
Firefox + NoScript add-on = No Counter Thingie The irony lies with being able to post, which requires me to temporarily allow stardock.com.
Thanks!
It is a lot of fun. The beta is also very stable.
How do I disband a fleet?
Re: slow forums I also experience forum issues, not only from home, but also from work. A traceroute shows that something with Comcast's routers are causing the issue. We use Comcast at the office, too. Just an FYI, and I don't know if it applies to anyone else.
News.google.com for the headline articles. There's something quite satisfying about 2,500 links to similar articles. I sometimes check foxnews and ccn. I often visit WSJ and NYT. And of course, the two local semi-rural online sites that cover my area. I really enjoy the news alerts from google.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Posted an 80,000 point game the other day. It took me around three weeks to finish. How do I get the Hitchhikers logo in my profile?
FWIW, the last update corrected the weirdness. It was rather strange . I should have taken a movie or something. And no, I do not take drugs
I am using Version v1.61 Dark Avatar last updated on: Wed Jun 13 14:10:36 2007. Whenever a movie ends, such as when the Snathi are defeated, the Stardock logo image flashes up on the screen for about 1/2 second before the game map appears. A bit strange, so I wonder if there is something I am doing wrong. Thanks
I don't know if this has been brought up before, but I would like to see more forms of government. Here are a few that come to mind: Theocracy Socialist Communist (I know, it's really an economic system) Monarchy (absolute monarchs) Tyrant Dictatorship Anarchy Clans Feudalism Kleptocracy Etc... Different forms of government would bestow positive and negative values. Theocracy, for example, would grant a +10% population growth, +25% l
You guys going to switch to hexes from squares? Great work! Looking forward to 1.7!
I'm perplexed enough to ask the GalCiv community about why I experience a slow down when zoomed out during my movement phase. Frame rates drop to less than 3 when viewing a gigantic map from a very strategic point of view during my movement. All I see are icons, and I would have thought icons eat up less video card than watching the turns zoomed way in (tactically). When I have the ship/colony pop up screen going, my ships chug along at about 1 parsec per second, and it's a very noticeable chug.
Kryo, Is this causing the computer players to launch troop transports less than full? Thanks, -Kassad
This appears to be a Terran ship, even though I'm playing Terrans. The ship cannot be selected and just sits in the bottom-most tile. Strange mystery ship!
Troop transports are launching towards rally points with fewer than maximum troops. For example, a transport with a capacity of 4 B will launch from a planet that has a population of 6 B with only 1.5 B loaded. Not sure if this is intentional. Thanks, -Kassad
Thanks Crosswire.
I think so, yes. Works for me, an it's a free program. Why not give it a go? BTW, there is a "Start with Realtime Priority" option (whatever that means).
I am not a computer expert. But I do enjoy tinkering. I was experiencing a few problems running DA on a laptop. The laptop's Nvidia 7800GTX (256 meg) card, 2 gigs of memory, and 2.26 ghz PentiumM process are not that old (yet). The first thing I did was update the video driver. I ended up purchasing driver cleaner pro for $10, but Kryo wrote there was a freebie version of software floating around. After reading the driver cleaner pro instructions (which ar
Sent the debug.err file via email. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this. The game hangs and the end turn button never lights up. I can still zoom around the map, check stacks, and go into options. Debug Message: Version v1.6 Dark Avatar last updated on: Wed Jun 6 08:51:50 2007 Debug Message: Checking DX Version. Thanks Moosetek13. The quick save disappeared, too. It wasn't corrupted.
