I bought Sword of the Stars, and Sword of the Stars: Born of Blood yesterday via Impulse. Both then, and today my attempts at joining an online game have been met with an "Invalid Cdkey" error. [edit]Oh well, I asked around about this at the #stardock IRC channel and I got directed to a more proper venue of support for this game..

Minor races put up a fight now if i declare war, and give them sufficient time to prepare. But they still have a problem filling their worlds with constructors(though they start adding weapons to them later on, much to my surprise! Their pretty effective at taking out my early ships when i can't spare the space for hitpoint modules..). They really should launch all non-combat ships(that means constructors, even with weapons) from their planets, and start manufacturing fighters or other combat ca
The maintenance tweaks really helped, i won my first game with the Iconians in TA now, with Thalans as my ally! Finally the Iconian economy is somewhat manageable. :)
The Iconians were suicidal to play before this maintenance change, and now they are impossible to use. I can't run spending more than 10%-20% anymore, contrast to the usual 50% before this change. It doesn't matter if i run taxes at 80%, have fully decked out trade routes with as many economic starbases crammed along them as can be, and have all my worlds FILLED with economic buildings + a few dream complexes to keep the taxes up, and i do have many economic treaties with majors, and minors alik
I'd wish there was a possibility to fleet your ships with the ships of your allies. Basically all you would need to is open the diplomacy screen, open a dialog called "Fleet Command", and suggest the ships you want to fleet together(each ship would be listed under their respective owner). If the AI accepts then autopilot should pull all related ships to a rendezvous point, and fleet them together. The command of the fleet should be with the one who suggests it. Either party can disband the fleet
Theres a still a problem with the Super Dominator's. I had game where the Drengin were conquered by the Torians, so naturally the Drengin ships go into pirate hands. They showed up before being handed over to pirates, after that they do not show up on the map, but still show up in battles. This rather annoying especially when their preying on freighters, and you have to find them by moving your mouse all over the screen. Also, it would seem the minors have access to all racial techs. <b
The new invasion screen looks fabulous! Much better than what was present before. I like it how you have a neat tiny flag on the improvements your troops land at, and the enemies flags on the buildings their defending from! :) And i see you have started to add racial penalties to already added races, when will the Terrans & company receive theirs? :D
There will always be bugs in computer games inherently due to hardware, and software differences between each client. They also occur due to programming errors, or programming working in a way not intended. You can't demand a complete bug-free product on a platform where the product is being used on varies greatly. Greater the complexity that is in the design, greater the possibility for bugs, and even smaller the possibility of fixing all those bugs. Sure you can make game like pong co
I've also had several weird situations with War declaration, and peace treaties. Sometimes i get peace with alien races without any screen popping up for them to offer it to me(this sometimes happens when my ally gets a peace treaty from a race i'm also at war with). Sometimes i get peace treaties despite the AI rejecting my offer the preceding turn. Sometimes i just get the war declaration without it telling me who declared war(this is really fun especially when its your nearest neighbor and yo
Apparently cause they don't know how the tech actually works(Basically they have a blueprint how to make those things, and their told what materials their supposed to use etc, but they don't know how in the world the machine works. I assume this is cause they served the PreCursors, thus they would provide all the knowledge needed.), the industrial replicator improvements are late on the tech tree cause of that, cause then they start making their own tech inspired by the PreCursor techs(though wi
I as a pre-orderer, don't mind a delayed release as i get to play it all the time, and better the game is at release then better will be the public opinion. And i hate seeing a good game bashed cause of a unfinished feature that would be finished "Next patch", or something like that. Many of my favorite games have rather small communities cause the game at release was horrible to play due to rushed release, but after the patches they were wonderful.
I always play with tech trade off, Boogly. It would help if the Iconians had just 1 further improvement to the Dream Complex(and please for the love of god, do not increase the maintenance costs!) that raised its effectiveness to 35%. It could be a late game tech, thats available after all the economy buildings. Also, Barter stations could offer 14% economic improvement that the Merchant Emporium offers now, and merchant emporiums could offer 24%. And then the Merchant Trade Complex could offer
I'm simply looking at the racial abilities from raceconfig.xml, which is why Altarians, and the Thalans were included their not in TA yet however. I forgot about the Drath, since their description talks about weak economy not weak population growth specifically, though i've never notice it hamper them too much in my games..maybe its cause their so good at making people to go to war that they rarely have to waste troops. But so far, the racial descriptions have been misleading o
So far, the only race i've seen exhibit a weakness as per their racial description are the Korx, with -20 loyalty. However, Torian's do not have something like -10 or -20 to research, or the Drengin, Humans do not have a negative modifier in social & military production, the Thalans do not have any negative military modifiers neither do the Altarians, and the Drengin & Korath absolutely have no negative diplomacy ability that would extend to other evil races. Some traits do get represen
All minors that pop up during the game seem to for some reason get all techs, including the ones meant for tech victories, meaning you can't win a tech victory after the Jagged Knife, Peacekeepers, or Pirates pop up. Or even the damned Vegans or Fundies. Pirate fleets that spawn from the mega-event are meant to be immensely powerful, and from your description it seems you got that mega-event. Just stop producing military ships, and focus all sliders on social(if you have colonies buildi
If i just mass economy buildings, i can't take any advantage from my manufacturing, and research cause most of my worlds would be covered with Merchant Emporiums then. Even the AI just covers its worlds with Dream Complexes, robot farms, and Merchant Emporiums even then its economy tanks when it goes to war. Sure, i can make my economy not tank, but that involves dropping any other advantage my civ has, and maintaining a military of 1 defender ship per planet max, or the huge maintenanc
I found the Iconians rather weak myself, every time either the Drath, or the Terrans can outgun, and out defend, and most of all out hitpoint my ships when i have all miniaturization techs researched, all organic hull techs done, all weapon techs done in every single weapon tree, and every single defense tree. Yet somehow the Terrans & Drath magically find themselves capable of doing ships with 5000 mass driver attack, 1000 mass driver defense while the max i can cram on my ships is 3000 missile
I'm pretty sure that event was changed recently, cause i've had them spawn with defense ships, either that or they rush buy one. Though this is in Twilight of the Arnor.
I've had pirates with beyond mortality..imagine it..pirates with beyond mortality. Too bad you can't spy upon them, or i would have the means to defeat those damn space apes.
I'd just like to see the AI to have a plan ready before it declares war. Scout out what planets the enemy has, what PQ they are. How many defenders? How strong? What Attack? What Defense? What kind of important resources are nearby and are owned by the enemy? If they are, prefer morale and military resources(they increase both the chance of winning fleet to fleet, and ground battles)as first targets. Target important trade worlds(just check how many trade routes each one has) to collap
I would be fine with the event if they built defense, and attack ships. But instead they just sit around with their worlds empty, and maybe pop out a freighter or two before being exterminated. Even when i trade hundreds of defenders and a few mighty battleships for their life savings, they just proceed to sell those ships forward(really annoying, i sell them ships 1 turn, then next turn they have sold them all to my enemy..good thing they were outdated by a few centuries) instead of keeping the
This report is about the latest beta, i was just saying the Emporium is meant to be the upgrade to the Barter Station cause he was confusing it with the Trade Complex.
I've made research & economic treaties by talking to a AI that announces who is he going to war with, and even after i done those treaties i don't have them on my relations screen. Pretty funny, you have treaties yet apparently you have never met.
I have a game i can't finish cause i can't get the turn button back, where the Jagged Knife popped up, and apparently they started up in the tech tree all the way to the second last tech in the Tech Victory branch which was pretty funny. To bad i haven't been able to steal it from them yet though.
GC2_Conversations.xml holds all the diplomacy dialogs, you can provide one with your mod to provide proper dialogs for the Ur-Quan.
