I can't seem to get the Performance Presets to change to anything other than Custom. I've tried to change, then leave the program, re-start the program and then its back to Custom. How do I change it so I can multiplayer?

My Performance Presets are stuck on Custom even though I've tried changing several times. Change to High, leave game, re-start game, back to Custom. Same for changing to Low. Can't use multi-player if the Performance Pre-set won't change. How do I do this?

I had to reinstall GalCivII (all three) after I had to replace my hard drive. I reinstalled Impulse and all three GalCivII versions, but now I'm getting and error message whenever I try to run any of the programs that says "Runtime Error The application Has Requested The application to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. The debug.err file says: Debug Message: Version v2.02 Twiligh

I'm actually loathe to report this as a bug (and it may have been mentioned somewhere, I just haven't found it), but I noticed that when a character, like the Drengin, pops up to tell me to remove a starbase in their territory, the dialogue looks something like "Remove your starbase [starbasename] from our territory . . ." Amusing. I guess that is a place holder for a starbase name that I haven't given. Also, I noticed a character referred to one of the
I've had CTD on two different machines when I was designing races. In both cases rather than save the file I hit "Next" and the program crashed immediately. This has happened on two different computers. Can't believe it's supposed to do that.
Yeah, I should have remembered to do that the last time it happened. Of course, I tried to do it again after posting and this time it didn't crash . Thanks.
If you cut it down to one opponent at a time, can you isolate a particular one causing the error? If so, send it in to [email protected] with a description of the problem.
Thanks, Kryo. That actually occurred to me also and I think I've resolved the problem. Basically, instead of doing the "Clear" procedure as instructed, I jotted down the settings for the custom characters, then left the GCII program and deleted all the raceconfig files associated with those races.
Were they races you made during the beta, or edited by hand? It's safest to only use races customized in-game and made in the same version for the metaverse.
Understood. I tried to reconfigure the races and cleared it and restarted the race, but I am still getting the error message. I've narrowed the problem down to races I'm using as opponents. For some reason, it is telling me the metaverse game will not work with the custom race configuration, but damned if I can fi

I've been having similar problems with custom races. I get intermittent messages when starting metaverse games that there's something wrong with the race configuration. This message is not particularly helpful since I usually play with several custom races and there's no indication which race or what the problem is. The problem with the races seems intermittent because once or twice the metaverse game has started with no problems, and on other occasions, with the same custom races enabled, I

Actually, when I installed (updated) the game through SDC, the only thing it put was a shortcut to TwilightoftheArnor.exe, not the TALauncher, which was where I was getting confused.
Once you install the game, the only thing it will put in the Start Menu is the shortcut to the launcher (TALaunch.exe).-HM
Oops, I was replying to this mesage when I said that it just seems like running the installer would put the various editors into the menu automatically. Didn't for me.
If you don't like using the launcher widget, all of the Editor tools are located here:C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\GalCiv2\Twilight\ToolsAnd are called:GC2MapEditor.exeGC2ScenarioEditor.exeGC2CampaignEditor.exeGC2TechTreeEditor.exeGC2ShipComponentEditor.exeGC2ImprovementEditor.exeJust go there, find

Well, this is not really a bug, but it's "bugging" me. Why aren there shortcuts to the very cool Editor tools? During the installation I kinda hoped they would show up on the menu. Be proud of those!!! They're very cool. Also, a race design editor, along the lines of the other editors might be good. Just a thought. Thus far I haven't had any notable experinces, yet. But then, I'm just getting into it so stay tuned. By the way, nice opening movie!!! The woman who do

Don't know if this is a bug or not, but when I tried to launch the map editor in TOA I got an error message saying that the application couldn't start because the file d3dx9_dll was missing. I have the most recent beta of TOA but I'm not sure what that means. Help! Thanks.

This may have been posted somewhere, but damned if I can find it. Is there a way to turn off the opening movies? Don't get me wrong, they're very entertaining and fun, but I don't need to watch them every time I start the game. Thanks.

CariElf, Thanks for the reply. I tried replacing DA, but that didn't solve the problem. Can you leave me an e-mail or send one to [email protected] and I will locate and send the above files to you. thanks for your help! Last week I had to reinstall GalCiv because of a hard disk failure. I downloaded all three versions and installed without a problem. When I started a DA game I began having pathfinding errers - fleets refused to move, or gave me an error that said the ship had colony modules (wasn't supposed to be a coolony ship.) Is there a fix for this?

I think the type of game that is being sold is an important factor. For example, I love turn-based and real-time strategy games. But in my family, I'm probably the only one who plays them. Everybody else goes for the shooters. And as for me, I buy games for times when I'm on the road, stuck in a hotel room (and I don't have five grand to spend on a call girl like the governor of NY) and thre have only been a couple of games that have interested me. GC, Alpha Centauri, Starcraft, Total
