is this in the right thread this time? sheesh! ~SDC~
Dearmad
Oh god, sorry, DELETE this thread- I THOUGHT I was replying in the test thread using SDC... still figuring out how it works. Seems like I logged in three times before it considered me "in." Again, sorry for this thread and feel free to swipe it from existence.
testing, 1,2,3, MARTIN CAN YOU HEEEEERE ME!?!?!? hehe... old Kid's in the Hall skit. ~SDC~

Sound like interesting ideas to me. As long as the AI's can handle the ideas...
I need to type faster, the man came to the thread and posted just as I hit SUBMIT... hope he doesn't mind my little speaking out for him. :sniff!:
Brad's idea appears to be that minimaxing design in ships so that TACTICS in battles eclipse STRATEGIES is a game ruiner, and I AGREE WITH HIM 1000%. That's 10 of me to one of you, Ion Stream. :p LOL When I could do that in Moo1 and Moo2 I stopped playing... permanently- it was just no fun and to design POOR ships in order to play a more BALANCED game? No thankee, ain't gonna play like dat. Serioulsy, I, unlike you, do not thinkof it as a "core concept" and take exception to your inc
It seems like it's a yearly report too, no?
I'd be surprised if the people who bother to post weren't instead playing at diff. levels too high initially and then complain about it being too hard and having to play against "fools." I think there'll be a LOT of complaints about it all being too hard, by whiny people who like to conquer games and then claim they "beat" the game with no real interest to long-term play. Here's to hoping Stardock RESISTS those complaints and lets us continue to be challenged and surprised and
The original Moo's manual wasn't that large at all- it covered the topics well and succinctly; it simply wasn't that long.
Why not take the time to explore this site a little? It's all here- the user manual, screenshots, AAR (two from Brad- one is in progress in another thread). Both are TBS, 4x, PC games set in space. :D
It's OK, man, you made the right decision. You can return to it when it's $14.99 and patched to heck and back, and... well, maybe you won't, though... for me the underlying *design* elements of the game are disappointing- and too complex for an AI to master, ie not *designed* with a posible AI in mind from day one which spelled doom for the SP experience.
Brad, what intelligence level are those AI set at? Also, that yearly summary screen looked cool- I liked the narrative flow to it! Is it true that the epic generator- or story part of this game was stripped out? A tragic loss, but it looks liek you've tried to add "story" in as much as is humanly possible- I appreciate that.
But he shares the same publisher/distributor... think on that. :notsure:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! I'd really like this thing to be in my CD drive right now... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaagh....... Ok, back to homework. :notsure:
Sad but true, I'm passing too. Ah well, more money for food. ;p
Yeah what is up with this one?
COngrats!!! LOL LOL LOL You guys are truly a class act at Stardock. Can't wait for a copy! :CONGRAT:
I'm so thankful MP was not a focus of this game- and it's paid off. Multiplayer strategy games of this complexity are just boring to me. Besides, there was a vote and an OVERWHELMING majority wanted NO MP at all in favor of decent AI.
