Thanks Frogboy Reinstalling of galciv and stardock central solved my downloading update problem. As a librarian that reboots and troubleshoots computers all day, I should have known better. I have only played 2 games yet on small maps. I also bottomed out at -500 b.c. in my first game (a nasty hole to climb out of). I like to improve the tax rate with the banks (which take no matinence). I also like to get a scout to find alien's to trade techs for money. I have yet to play 101a. (SC wants to download the whole 85MB for some reason?) Any way I agree that at least on a small map you need to crank out the colonyships to have any chance.
First, I am enjoying the game a lot. However, I am having trouble updating to 101a via Stardock Central. Yes I have registered my store purchased copy. Yes I am connected to the Atlanta Server. Yes I have restarted and refreshed stardock central v4 Yes stardock central can see I have version 1.01.029 and that I can update to version 101a. Selecting Update on the left side of screen or on right next to gal civ version results in download of the whole 85MB. I hope this in
