All right, I've configured my start menu with subfolders to get rid of the issue BUT, it's still driving me nuts that my Documents menu (right side panel) has the Documents folder sorted alphabetically instead of folder alphabetically and then individual files below that alphabetically. When I look at the Documents folder in Win Explorer when I sort by Name that's how it's sorted, folders above individual files. Is that an option that can be added to a future update? &

Thank you, I overlooked that option. That works :) R
Hmm... I don't have the old PC anymore, a power surge took it out but I seem to recall that I had folders showing and then loose shortcuts. I very definitely notice the disorganized look of shortcuts mixed with folders and if it was that way before I wouldn't notice it now. You would know though, I remember you from the early days of Windowblinds and DesktopX. I wonder why it looks different to me.
Bringing the post back from the dead... I too would like to see my menus sorted alphabetically by folder first and then by non-foldered shortcuts. This used to be an option in previous versions but I don't see anything now. I'm using the Modern Style Windows 7 menu.
No, the desktop which had the problem until I reinstalled everything is running eset, the work laptop is running bitdefender. Not uncommon anti-virus programs so they should be no problem. Both are intel processors and both are running Win10 with all the updates. Is there a debugger that one can run that can trap what's going on when the failure occurs?
Same issue on my laptop now. Clicking on an item in the Recent Items list causes a brief black screen and then my desktop reloads. Almost looks like the explorer.exe process is being shut down and restarted. I really don't want to have to rebuild this machine also...
Was unable to get it to work on my main account. I had to completely rebuild it but it's working now.
Created a new administrator user account. Recent items works fine there. Reckon I'll start disabling stuff to see if it comes back on my regular account.
Did as instructed, the problem persists. No change. Next?
Not sure exactly what you're asking here so I'll answer it with a couple of possibilities. It doesn't matter what file type is represented, *.pdf, *.png, *.rtf, *.doc, even a shortcut to a folder, the shortcut won't open the file. The files do open when manually located and activated so the programs work fine. It just seems that any access through the recent items list fails.
When I try to open a document from the Recent Items list the process wheel spins a little and then it looks like explorer.exe shuts down and restarts and the item never opens. Anyone else? Start10, Win1020H2
'nudder bump
yeah, that didn't do it either. The deskscapes display is still static after monitor wakeup.
I did not. I just used the update process from the Stardock notifications window. I'll give that a try.
Got the latest update installed. Deskscapes still freezes upon return from screen sleep mode. Windows10, two monitors, both set to turn off after 10 minutes of non-use. Computer never goes to 'sleep', just the monitors. Upon monitor wakeup Deskscapes (applied to monitor #2) frozen. Right click and the 'Pause Deskscapes' option is available. Click on that and the Resume Deskscapes option shows up. Click on that still no joy.
Any word Neil?
Running Win7_64 Professional, ATI4870, Intel i920, 6GB of RAM, dual monitors When running Deskscapes, initially everything works fine but after a while the desktop gadgets remain on top at all times instead of being covered over by the active window. I can turn off deskscapes, reboot, and turn it back on and the gadgets will be covered up by the focus window again but only for a time. I'm not sure if it's related to the monitors shutting off (after 20 mins) or not yet but
Also experiencing this. Fences will not hide when using deskscapes animated desktops. ALSO, when using animated deskscapes, any windows gadgets I have running remain on top of any open windows. When having internet explorer open for example, and maximized, the desktop gadgets (the ones that come from microsoft) show up on top of the page I'm browsing. I've had to disable the gadgets for now. EDIT: Never mind... I found the update to Fences Pro and now everything seems to
I have the Sort Fence option set to none and yet every time I try to reposition an icon within a fence they don't stick where I want them. If I have a dozen icons within a fence and I want one or two icons to remain next to each other, it seems like every time I move one icon to where I want it to go, the others all change their order. They seem to want to be in a topdown order any time the fence has multiple columns. So, if I want to take an icon and place it next to another one, everything
Reattempted to upgrade to 8.801. I had to completely uninstall all ATI software and then use the phyxion.net Driver Sweeper program to get rid of all ATI software. Then I ran CCleaner to get rid of anything that missed. I'll never understand why a software writer that writes a program to make changes to your system can NOT write an uninstall program to unmake each of those changes. It should be simple, just write it backwards. Whatever... So far, installing the 8.801 drivers seems to

Yes, that's checked. I'm running Win7Pro_64 btw. I have to STOP dwm in order to make the big, black, focused, unmoveable, screen-eating square go away. It comes on any time I activate an Aero visual style, as well as most (all?) others. Some skins like the Aero skins will unload when I stop dwm, others will remain loaded (Aquarium and Blackcomb for example) Intel DX58SO, Intel i920, 6GB DDR3 RAM, and 2x ATI 4870s NOT in Crossfire mode. ATI Driver version 8.782
I have a problem lately. Sometimes (often) when I minimize windows and/or switch back and forth between them, I'll get a big black square in the middle of my primary screen that won't go away even with an F5 refresh. There are no dialogue boxes indicated and the only way to get it to go away is to end the dwn (desktop windows manager) process. I have to do that twice and then the black box goes aw
