just give the other guy a planet or two to stunt your culture. make sure a terror star or two are nearby...muahahahahahaa
i recommend the ctrl-f button... :D seriously, i will better organize it in the near future. not sure how to get a search in there better than ctrl-f. if you mean the pages other than the faq, i am not sure what language search engine to use nor if they will work on a geocities site. thanks for the comments!
thanks, mindlar! i would never have noticed that #4 entry under the #9 entry. it took me about ten reads over that list to even notice what you were talking about. since i got this free bump, the homepage link is: http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/index.htm
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #5 by Avatar Frogboy - 4/1/2003 5:44:02 PM ...I updated this to show a cut scene event with the text describing the player going to prison. Then I delete the galaxy class so that they know why it's crashing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- no fair! why do the warez guy g
set the yor to good. then meet them the first time. link to pic: cheap way to get people to go to my website :) http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/index.htm no, it wasn't modded, i just added the pic to the screenshot. but the message was funny as hell i thought.
article by brad in encyclopedia: http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/influence.html also, there is a button on top to the right of the menu label i believe. it is a small, 4 square/color button. this shows the influence in the sector you're looking at.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #2 by Veteran mindlar - 4/1/2003 2:57:52 PM The morale problem is something that has been around for quite a while. There are several ways to manage the problems that an empire will face not all of which involve sending your people into oblivion. There are a few ways to effectively raise morale: 1) Lower taxes 2) Build social improvements that hel
did they look these guys: :) :CONGRAT: :d :p ;p LOL :D ;) :) maybe you were evil and the galaxy was glad to be rid of your menace...
also added a small interface help guide.
http://www.geocities.com/russellmz/FAQ.html i will be prettifying it up even as people look at it, but right now the info is in so i figured i'd let everyone take a look. tell me if you see errors!
oh yeah, that's me. although i had been playing less cm lately, and spending more time in the cm general forum. i thought i recognized your name from somewhere!
i hated teh drengin music too. i just copied the torian mp3 and renamed it to the whatever the drengin one was.
start out by setting the ais to subnormal and fools while you learn. even at easy they do pretty well. also, set up a higher proportion of good civs so you get a little less warfare. also hit ctrl-N if you first see the map and know you are screwed vbecause of a bad starting position. in almost all my non-easy games i am a weak minor edging out an existence.
i was looking at the google groups/usenet strategic games group and there were 11 threads there that brad answered, one after antoher, so they were all in a nice long row.
on a small map i had 90% control of the map through military and tech and influence and diplomacy. so using a near end game save i tried all methods so i could see the victory videos(yes, i am cheap and lazy) anyway the tech path took the longest. at the end i had spending set to 100%, my taxes to 100%, and i had 100% morale! of course i had a 3-500bc deficit each turn...
i would like to see diplomacy in an fps... :D
can you work on telling us how the other guys are gonna vote? is that already int here? i tried to guess once and wound up screwing myself over because everyone voted for themselves but me and i had the biggest # vote...
i had a similar thing ahppen to me. do you have a nvidia card? you may want to update the drivers for those. do you have an old version of quicktime? you can update that too... you should also post the debug.err file(copy and paste)
YAY fixed! after the last tip from madice (updating quicktime) i noticed the first one second of the video worked. then i remembered i was using another program yesterday to record some sounds. it required me to use IT to play audio while it recorded. so when i went to multimedia in control panel, i saw i forgot to return it to the default audio device to play sound. now i got to the menu screen! thanks for all your help!
hey, thanks for the email. madice was helping me in the chat room and i just posted the err log here for convenience. i'll email cari now. i downloaded the first part (galciv 1.01) 159MB, 410 files, 9 folders after it extracted itself. it asked me if i wanted to start the game, but i said no so i could shut down stuff in the background. when i went to the start menu and selected galciv to play, the startup screen showed up: a starbase with the title. unfortunately no buttons for me to click appeared. all i saw was the starbase with the greyish white background on the right(the one with the human emblem embossed) where the
