Well, I got an email saying my credit card was declined. Unfortunately it had expired since I placed the order during the first pre-order. I guess I just need to re-order now. Anyone else in this boat?

What if it doesn't get released until something like 4:59? :)
Either game limits the resolution or doesn't detect certain higher resolutions. I didn't get 2560x1600 as an option for graphics. I ended up running 1280x800 since that would scale the nicest visually. Other than that, it ran very nicely. Dell Precision T3400 4G Ram XP-SP3 GeForce 8800 GTX Will have to check on driver version when I get back home.
Well, I really wanted to like it, heh, more like love it :) I am pretty sure I am playing "correctly", but who knows, maybe I am missing something. I am playing both Galciv, Combat flight sim 3, and IL2: Sturmovik currently.
Well, I bought MOO3 and have played around 600 turns as the Psilons so far. I have gone from hating it, to being entertained, to being annoyed at it. All in all, I have probably spent 12 hours playing since I bought it Thursday. There is a lot of the game that is undocumented and you learn through trial and error. For most games I rarely read the manual until after I have played the game for 4 hours or so. With MOO3 I read a good deal of the manual first, but it didn't help that muc
I don't have the debugger installed on the computer I finished the last tech on, but either it just dumps you to desktop (the alternate universe?) or it crashed. Any ideas?
I was playing a game and the United Planets voted to share all tech (ack). So I left. After this you are no longer able to trade, which I can see. But I think you should be able to trade with an ally if you have one or form a new alliance.
I know it wasn't available in MOO2 or MOO. Maybe its in SE4, but I don't remember it (means I never used it if it was there :) )
Something for future versions I would like to see. The ability to mothball ships. 1. Have it take say 2 turns to do. 2. Have it cost a percentage of the ship cost. Or a multiple of the monthly maintenence. 3. After mothballed, the ship is no longer usuable, but no longer has a maintenence cost. 4. Takes 2 or 3 turns to take out of storage, again for a percentage of original cost or multiple of its normal maintenence cost. 5. Maybe make a space
Here are the bugs I have observed with 4B and 4A. When building the advanced trade module on a space station (2nd trade module) the station gets both the advanced trade module and the one after that (2nd and 3rd modules.) Ships still stop early when on autopilot. They always seem to stop at the end of their turn so they are available at the beginning of the next turn with their full movement available to them. Kvim
Just curious as to what advantages the AI has beginning a game at smart level, besides the galactic map. Even though I play as technologists, the AI seems to outpace me at everything. They have 3d phasing (dregin) and tons of battle cruisers before I can even research turbo phasers. I don't mind being beaten, but it seems a bit one sided at anything over dumb now. Also, all the races, including good ones, attack me because my military is low by the time I get tech to be able to produce any m
Some bug for the assessing of your competitor (closest?) shows huge numbers. For instance mine reads 56 while their's (Altarian) is 1889999401.
Tried it with dumb, working better. They are dumb though :( Think I found a bug. Game said that I had reached the max trade routes allowed, but there were 2 more slots (3 of 5 filled) in the economy/trade window. Going to try to duplicate it, game crashed shortly after seeing this (no SE though)
Started an average game with all the AI players set to their defaults...most normal and one smart/one dumb I think. They quickly crank out 4 colony ships and grab planets all over the place. This is on the 6x6 galaxy. I had to restart it 5 times to get one with star systems near my home planet to have a chance of getting any. Even then, the computer quickly came in and grabbed all around me except the one I had. I don't think this is the best idea as far as balance goes. I went into debt b
Brad, I was playing a gigantic map on 3z1 last night, the computer stops colonizing at some point. Not sure why, but the other empires each had a bunch of planets, but left about 7 good planets uncolonized.
On ship movement it can bog down when you get ships that can move 10 or 12 squares. It seems that it is still drawing the ship once it gets offscreen and you can watch the movement counter go down one step at a time. Not a big performance change, but would be nice.
I think we really need something showing resources on the map and an alert when new ones form. On larger maps, you really don't want to go look at each and every sector every turn. And if you don't see one when it forms, the computer is all over it (so they obviously are being informed when one forms, they don't have to send out scouts all over the place to find them.)
I will look for them, I don't think I have ever seen them show up (gigantic maps mostly).
Why does it only give 1% to repair? Seems kind of low.
On a small map it isn't much of a problem to find them. But on a large map it gets very hard to keep track of the ones you have found, and when new ones appear. Three suggestions: When one is found, have that appear as a message. When one forms in known space, have a message for that. A map filter that shows them. I don't think they show up currently.
Should the star hawks have zero maintainence? Also, I think the techs are far too cheap, at least the later ones in the game. Previously they were too expensive, maybe. Perhaps weight tech cost based on the galaxy size? In a large galaxy I seem to exhaust the tech tree before most of my colony's are even well developed.
I think we could use a large transport (researchable in later game.) 3000 per transport gets annoying at the late game when assaulting planets with 30k on them.
I asked for this earlier, but there was some concern over people using it to get very high scores in the game (for online scoring.) I still think having this is a good idea. Maybe make it so if you change any of the VC, you can no longer post your score online?
Hmm, What about, if it selects a random event that has already happened, nothing happens? That way you don't get repeats. Sure you might not get all the events in a game, but that would probably make good random events that much better.
Pacing is better, I think the techs might be too cheap now though. I finished a medium map game and had the tree finished (well, one or 2 left.) However, a lot of my tech I got through espionage. I think the AI's and player should be able to invest in anti-espionage. I was investing about 100bc into espionage against my primary opponent and got a tech every turn or 2 from him.
